She showed me the premise and I poked at it for a few but didn't really get hooked. I normally love puzzle games, though, so I think I should give it another shot.

About the only vice I'm not addicted to is gambling. That may explain why I was pretty good at poker back in college. But online and video poker have no appeal for me. There's no social interaction and, worst of all, they deny me my secret weapon for winning, getting everyone else drunk.

It's odd. I don't get much out of gambling. It's not the chip race I'm so hung up on, it's the constant internal battle of how to play my cards/opponents. I love playing with free chips just as much as I love playing without any of it. It's definitely not about the money to me, but reading people and situations is fun for me and a challenge I can't get with most other games.

I do prefer the face to face poker vs. the online variety but it's good practice for getting hand odds in your head and learning what has a chance and what's not got a shot in hell.

I get that you're not to duplicate the same number in any row. What I don't have, I guess, is a system for getting that done. It all seemed so arbitrary when I first played that I lost interest in it quickly. I should sit down and work out a good method for me.

I'm the gambling industry's posterhorse for "Least Wanted Consumer." I tried a few online gambling sites that offered a free $20 to new customers. I gambled the twenty and cashed out as soon as they would let me. After a few sites, I found one where I got a lucky spin and won about $600. I cashed out and never played again.

If they're offering free money, it's often not a bad deal so long as you're willing to quit. I figure I've about had my luck for the decade, so I'm staying shut of them.

I don't play the huge money games, but it beats playing the play money where everyone goes in on any cards they get. I trust the system of putting my money in, its once you get in, the game is iffy. Real or play money, online poker is on a revolving game. About every 10 hands the game shifts. So you could have pocket aces but if your in that 10 bad hands, you will lose to a 7-2 off suit.

Oh that is SO true! All of it. The play money games are beginning to piss me off. I've been playing mostly fixed limit games but have recently branched out to learn the dynamics of pot limit and no limit. Now it's getting a lot more interesting. I still wish I could find a good local game to hop into once in a while.

You should join us, the group I play with. We usually badger the idiots that play like idiots away and then enjoy a nice friendly game of poker where everyone knows not to try and raise the pot to a million dollars before the flop.

Sounds fun but I don't have Skype, am not willing to pay for it, and my poker time is rarely uninterrupted. I have to sit out here and there to do things for kids and dogs or whatever, but perhaps sometime when the kids are away this summer. It sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm addicted to online poker.

Fortunately my mathematical mind means I'm quite good at it. I've won over $4000 playing ~20 hours a week for the past year and a half (It's a terrible hourly yield, but generally I can do other things while I play).

I probably should cut back, but I love competition, and I like winning. In many ways the money is more a way to keep score than super important in and of itself (I really haven't cashed much of it out yet)
