One Woman Finally Gets It!

This still has me mystified. Why complain when you don't want advice or solutions? Why gripe just to gripe? Why not seek to resolve the matter if you can? I know that women feel as you say, I'm just confused by it, to be honest.

Don't know... don't care.

It's an easy thing that gets me MASSIVE points for being a 'wonderful' man.

When I get to heaven, I'm not even going ask God why... I'm just going to thank him. Then I've going to find the guy/girl/people that invented Valentine's day and give them the BIGGEST hug ever.

One thing is sure...I'll never know for certain. Women probably don't even know themselves. It's one of those biochemical things, I suppose. ;)

Did I miss out something here? What is that biochemical thing that women don't know?

Why they want men to listen, but not advise. I know it is the case, I just can't explain it. Neither can they.

Hmm...doesn't that work the other way around as well?

Some people just have bigger egos than others, that's all. Or at least I think so. :)

Interesting point. :D

I can.

It is female nature to share difficulties with their significant other.

It is male nature to wish to solve all difficulties for the female.

And that tends to piss off most females.

We don't want our problems "fixed." Just listen, commiserate, sympathize.

We can solve our own problems.

Fascinating to at last hear a response from a woman on this issue. It truly has perplexed me for a long time. ;) :rose:

So it's about sympathy and self-reliance. Intriguing.

Uh...my response was from a woman, too!

We're not trying to be annoying, honestly.

We just want a sympathetic ear.

That makes sense. But I admit to having a similar confusion on the cause of it. Glad to see your usual wisdom on this matter. :rose:

Neither sex tends to want to annoy the other....it's just different assumptions and mindsets, not to mention different languages at times. So you're quite right there. It's fascinating to see in action. I know that I appreciate such an explanation, as I trust does yev.

You're cool....not to mention hot. ;) :rose:

Note to Fat: I doubt that yev meant that as an insult. It's probably that the AV is gender-neutral, so he reacted that way. I don't know how many times I've had strangers assume I was a gal because I had a woman in my AV. ;)

Didn't think it was an insult anyway. ;)

I was smiling confusedly when I typed the response. :)

Yeah, I can relate. Totally. Just from the other side. ;)

This is why my sister gets so mad at me- she tells me her problems, and I want to solve them. :(

I'm sure that is true. Veronica aside, I try not to mistrust the motives of the fairer sex, for the most part. I know that you are capable of bad deeds, but I do tend to be sentimental about women in general. Well, with one notable exception, for which you understandably got irate with me once. :rose:

I very much would be surprised if your motive had been to annoy... :D

Well, there are the occasional golddiggers, but I honestly think them a minority whose numbers are exaggerated among your sex.

I suppose that I should have emphasized the word "try" on that matter. I'm weird. I usually give women the benefit of the doubt, unless they say or do something that touches off a sensitive issue.

Mine tells me her problems, asks me to solve them, and when I do, she gets pissed.

I don't think that's as much a woman thing as a my sister thing. She's nuts.

Recently, I pointed out to her that if she thought of me as her brother than a lot of my behaviours would make more sense, and she wouldn't have to get mad at me for being "emotionally distant" (In my mind, I'm anything but- but, somehow, I just can't communicate to her) :(

Also some problems just *can't* be solved. When I'm frustrated and upset and railing at the world because I can;t do the things other people my age do all I want from my SO is to be held (and mayeb for him to proffer chocolate). He can;t solve my woes so it just makes me even *more* frustrated and upset when he tries to give me advice, tell me what to do. All I can do is cope with it, but that is much easier when I can blow off steam and get a sympathetic cuddle...

Funny thing...

Talk to her about your problems... it's all "Here's what you need to do..."

That is if she doesn't look at you with that look in her eyes... "You're man, right? Why are you whining?"

*Laugh*

Wait... I don't want you to tell me how to solve my problems, I just want you to commiss-- Never mind, I'm going to go play some b-ball with the guys.

One thing I do appreciate.

Her: "How was your day at work?"

ElSol: It was work.

Her: Good... let me tell you about my day.
