That makes one of you. Once he warmed up he just wanted to get the hell away from me.

Nah, hopefully soon.

I need to figure it out again regardless of what the sun does. This thing is four or five years old but my god it's got a ton of settings. I just found the instruction manual online....it's only 148 pages.

He after exploring the surroundings? I'd be happier exploring you.

Cool

Well better that than not having the settings to try to get the effect you want or a basic manual that tells you what buttons do and says oh get on with it on your own I guess, besides you like reading lol

No...he just wanted to get the hell away from me. He was scared of me after getting dunked in the water. He's definitely not a fan.

Oh there are plenty of settings and instructions. To bad I don't speak camera.

You were partially right about the focus and exposure settings when it's on the timer though. It doesn't set it when I set the timer or when it's triggered. I actually have to set it up, put the camera where I want it, push the button halfway down so that it can focus and set exposure, and then push it all the way down for it to start the countdown. It's taken 98 pages to figure that much out. I might have learned something else along the way...but I've promptly forgotten it. :D

I am, I am! I'm over halfway there. I don't have a clue what half of it meant, but I've read it.

More post shower pics from...uhhh...a week ago maybe. One of them is a couple of weeks old. Apparently I got distracted and never got around to posting them. I'm sure one of the pictures will make it rather obvious what I was distracted by. There's something about that first half an hour or so after I take a shower when my skin is still warm and wet, when both my body and mind are relaxed from the water cascading down over me. My mind wanders, my fingers wander.

Also, the picture that was never meant to be posted here...but I've been posting more and more of my face lately so you can have this silly thing for now as well.

Happy Sunday all! I hope you have a great one.

Lighting problems

I was messing around with the camera and chasing the sunlight around the bedroom today. We've already determined that direct sunlight it far too bright on my skin. I tried filtering it through a layer of sheer fabric covered by a layer of lace. The end result....not even close to what I wanted. It's still far too bright. It has to have something to do with a setting in my camera. The dresser that I had the camera sitting on has a huge mirror on the back of it, the reflection that I was seeing in the mirror of the cameras view finder didn't have nearly the light or the glare as was being picked up in the photos themselves. There has to be something in one of my settings as I seem to be picking up far too much light in everything that I shoot lately. I'm off to research.

I hope everyone is having a great evening!

is a very beautiful photo.

However, I assume that you are trying to use your DSLR. One tedious exercise is to position the camera where you want it and focus on something that matches your skin color - maybe a large white pillow.

Take a photo at your largest lens opening all the way down to your smallest lens opening. Select the best shot. Then repeat the exercise starting at an ASA of 100 and shoot the photo at 125, 200, 400 and 500. Maybe this way you will be able to select the best speed and the best lens aperture. And for someone who claims not to know here way around the camera very well, you have managed to create a body of work that is quite exceptional my dear - of course you have a fanatastic subject to photograph. DAve :kiss:

Ah, sure he'll get over it, sulky snake.

Just try anything that sounds helpful, best way to learn is by experiment maybe. You'll remember if you get it how you want it.

Partially right sounds about right for me. Hmm trouble with that is that without you in the frame the levels will be very different. :( How irritating.

You already know how much I love seeing your gorgeous eyes, and how it's wonderful to see your beautiful face.

But I think that this picture may be the most interesting of this bunch. Not only does it give me an image of where you got distracted after your shower, but it also has the most interesting color. It's like, a black and white photo...almost...with blue highlight tones thrown in. It really stands out visually, and it makes your skin take on this unearthly glow. Which is cool, in an unearthly-glowing-skin sort of way!

I don't care what you say, I think this one is fine. The blown out left side of the frame doesn't detract from the image at all, as far as I'm concerned. :D

Well it's not like that, it is that. You've summed up the selective colour editing done to the picture

Hi Dave,

I really appreciate your help. Now can you repeat all of that in non-photographer terms? Actually I understood most of it...I think. I guess there's something similar I need to do with the white balance settings as well. Or something.

Ah, sure he'll get over it, sulky snake.

He's recovered.

Generally I start to figure it out and then get sick of taking pictures and by the time I pick the camera up again I've forgotten everything that I started to learn.

They wouldn't be quite as different with me in the frame if I didn't glow in the dark. :D

I can almost feel my hands gripping your hips, pulling you close to me……...

Grrr...me too!

Hoping you've been snapping away lots of lovely pics sweetie.

Hi you! Would you believe I haven't taken a single one? I've been slacking.

Please please do!!

It's so wonderful to see you around again beautiful.

MMMMMMmmmmmmmm, loooooooverly! :rose:

Well hello there beautiful. I'm really happy that you stopped by, I'm really happy that you started your thread...clearly I'm just happy. Thank you!

That one is fairly strange. It looks a bit like I'm half alien eh? I'll let you figure out which half.

I don't care what you say, I think this one is fine. The blown out left side of the frame doesn't detract from the image at all, as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you. There actually wasn't ANY sun hitting my skin in that picture though...regardless of what it looks like. All of the sun was back behind me and pointing the other way from me and it still looks like I'm standing directly in the sun. Apparently this is what happens when you show an Alaskan sunlight.

Well it's not like that, it is that. You've summed up the selective colour editing done to the picture

Silly. You need hugs.

Hello my beautiful friend. Love the new pics, you're so lovely...hope to see more of you soon

Hi you! Would you believe I haven't taken a single one? I've been slacking.

I'd believe it. I do that all the time. My favorite hobby, slacking. Hehe. Hope all's going well

Took my math final tonight, pretty sure I got an A on it. English final tomorrow. Sitting back, getting some ramen cooked up and watching the SF Giants and SJ Sharks games.

Ah well that's something at least, showing off his nice new look?

Make notes in terms you understand once you figure it out? Then find somewhere on pc to lose the notes... ;)

Well yeah your luminosity won't help entirely but think anyone in frame would dramatically change light levels seems a flawed process really.

I've had suspicions about that right side...

Am feeling increasingly foolish here :( Maybe those would help somewhat
