One more reason to vote for Obama

People see what they want to see, use what they want to use.

For example, they say Obama is a poor choice re: foreign policy because he doesn't have "global experience".

McCain's initial global experience is horrifying at best. He suffered, and I don't want to devalue that. But how does killing from a plane and then being tortured equal real experience with all the countries we AREN'T at war with?

Hilary can't seem to be trusted to remember what really happened in her global experiences.:rolleyes:

And supposedly Obama has none.

Oh wait. Now we need to cast doubt on his "american-ness".

Yeah, that's right. He lived in Indonesia as a kid! And his dad is from a foreign country! And he traveled in that country, not as a representative of the US government, but as a young man looking for info about his father! He even wrote a book about it all!

(Hey, but if we tell all that, won't they see he has more experience in the reality of what the rest of the world is like on a daily basis than the other two?)

Fuck no! We ignore it the rest of the time. I mean, this is america. Those fuckers are going to listen to us, not read a fucking book! Why bother, when we can tell them what to think so they can get on with punching in that phone number to vote on American Idol?

*sigh* :(

Bel, it is normal to be judged by the company you keep. Nobdy will vote for Wright or Ayers. Obamas denial is weak at best. It will be a larger issue in the fall as an example of questionable judgement.

Calling either of the first term Senators, Qualified is a joke. Let your Drs wife treat a heart condition, that is Hillary.

Without disagreeing with your opinion, Hillary is on her second term. :confused:

right on, bro.

as the esteemed chairman mao said,

"Power comes from the barrel of a gun".

nice to see another leftie here!!:rose:

Hmmm - by this definition the only true "rightie" was Thomas Hobbes, who argued that no matter how long a train of abuses and usurpations a sovereign may impose on a population, they have no right or duty to throw off such government and provide new guards for their future security.

Alternatively, this post can be interpreted as putting Mao into the same bed with fellow lefties like Obama. Hey, Pure, I thought you only used that trick on me, not on your own fellow travellers! ;)

...and people wonder why I'm embarrassed to be from this country. American Idol and Survivor are more important than who the hell is gonna run this country for at least the next four years.

We can only hope that those who obsess over American Idol won't vote at all.

It could be worse. Can you imagine trying to choose between the two candidates for Mayor of London?

A perfect example of the politics of distraction. Find the best negative possible and keep hammering it.

Now, since the majority of my post was concerning experience in foreign lands, a more on topic response would have been to question, for example, the relevance of the indonesian experience as regards a war in Iraq...

but, but, but....that might mean some actual thinking would have to be involved!

It's much easier to just hammer away with the same old tired argument...toe that party line.

“Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following. A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

“Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

Well, of course it couldn't be the fault of that damn idiot in the White House, now could it? It couldn't possibly have anything to do with fighting a war over oil that we can't possibly win - turning Iraq into another Viet Nam. Nah, couldn't have anything to do with that.

:rolleyes:

Plainly silly. The factors that caused all this were not put into place since that election. Indeed, the product of the 2006 election has only been in congress a single session. The election was 17 months ago. Those elected took office 13 months ago.

This is as utterly ridiculous as saying that a man who buys a ten year old used car and has it break down after a hundred miles is at fault because he was the one driving it at the time of it's demise.

Republicans declared logic against the bible a long time ago, Bel.

Well, it is his fault! Just ask any Republican.

Just like the Dems have declared that all evil comes from Bush! :D

Any economic policy put into effect by any President will take at least 2 years to have an effect. Look at the history, it really is true.

Thank you for confirming the ridiculous nature of the earlier quote blaming the economic demise on a recently elected congressional majority.

I appreciate a man who can admit he was wrong. It is far more masculine and macho than blindly crowing how right you were in the face of the facts that prove you wrong.

Dems declare that Bush is really effin' evil, and that his influence has allowed a lot of other evil people to be as overt as they always wanted to be. Not quite the soundbite you'd like, is it?

Bush has certainly had 'at least two years' to bring his economic policies to bear. He's doing a fine job.

But we in England chopped the head off one monarch and threw another out. Whether swapping that one for William of Orange was a good deal? Pass.

Og

PS. William Rufus met a stray arrow too...
