The perpetrator is sentenced to one year, the victim is sentenced to life.
 
One of the defense attorneys wanted it on the record that "she didn't say no".

One of the two main rapists got one year in juvenile.
The other one got one year for rape and one additional year for taking a picture of a rape in progress.

This whole case has had a stink about it from day one. "Oh, we can't prosecute the high school football team!" Utter bollocks.
 
OH FUCK ME. The judge warned about the use of alcohol and blamed alcohol for what happened. WHAT THE FUCK. Tell me I didn't hear that right.

Alcohol didn't cause the fucking rape. The RAPISTS caused the fucking rape.
 
It's a pity LT started this thread. It's a fucking outrageous case and 99% of the board won't see the thread.
 
what's even sadder is that this is becoming a trend in rape prosecutions.. shorter and shorter sentences

what's sadder than that is that conservativegroups are trying to cut funding to services for victims

what's even sadder than that is that LT wanted to nix VAWA that funds victims services
 
The whole case is a lot worse when you understand exactly what happened

  • Girl dated football player over the summer.
  • Broke up with him right when school started.
  • Scorned, humiliated football player arranges a premeditated rape party ("bring your cameras guys!")
  • Got a mutual friend to convince girl to come to this team party.
  • "Friend" roofies girl's drink on the car ride over to the party.
  • Girl was wobbly when she arrived from the roofie, passed out soon after.
  • Gang rape ensued.
  • Girl sobers up, went to the cops.
  • Female prosecutor (whose son was on the same fucking football team) declines to press charges.
  • Some people think this is wrong, so prosecutor refers rapists to juvenile diversion program (!!) which is run by.....the coach of the high school football team (!!!).
  • Nothing happens. Embiggened rapists make jokes about party and post fingerbanging pictures on Facebook
  • Stuebenville has great year on football field!
  • AFTER the season, the shit hits the fan. Then and only then does Prosecutor then refers case to hand-picked special prosecutor, a married male lawyer who wants to get in the female prosecutor's panties in the worst way. He will provide cover for rapists....
  • Whole lurid story hits the internet, then and only then are the "correct" procedures followed. "Special" prosecutor is dismissed.
  • Two main rapist charged and convicted, each gets a one year sentence for rape.

Yeah, pretty much. I don't think I've ever seen such a blatant miscarriage of justice in a civilised country in my life.

I didn't know that. Really didn't care either cuz I was born there but never lived there. Lived first three years in some other town. I can't remember. I'd have to ask my mom or dad. Then we moved to Michigan where I grew up and dad is still terrorizing people with Ohio State merchandise and his old fashioned form of passive agressive racism. Not surprisingly they dislike the OSU stuff the most.
Anyway...Steubenville. Yeah.

Maybe the judge was moved by the rapists' concern for the victim.

After all, they "only" ass-fucked her, so her life would not have been ruined by an accidental pregnancy, dontcha know. Such gentlemen. :rolleyes:

The "group piss" on her at the end was a bit over-the-top, though.

Of course, when people criticized little Cody Saltsman for posting pictures of a rape in progress, he did what any American teenaged boy would do: he filed a libel lawsuit which was promptly dismissed AND little Cody had to write a letter of apology.

Evidently it's a football team tradition that when a player fucks a girl, he sends a naked picture of his conquest to the 40-something president of the high school booster club. Anonymous hacked Mr. Booster's email and found all these pictures of underage nekkid women having sex in his yahoo account. Naturally, Mr. Booster is claiming to be the victim of a "terrorist attack".

The sentences are minimums. They could be kept in jail until they're 21.

More investigations are under way. The trials aren't over yet.

Under Ohio law, they'll also have to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives.

There were 16 others who stonewalled the investigation. The prosecutor, embiggened by his victory, has announced he is going after these 16 next.

I haven't followed this case closely. Did they do this too? I read that they were charged, and convicted, of "digital" penetration. Unlawful penetration is unlawful penetration. It looks like the judge went soft (no pun intended) because of fingering?

One of the three prosecution witness testified to watching her getting ass fucked. It wasn't on video so it fell in the realm of he said/she said (and ignored by the media).
