Gen. McKenzie: "There's a lot of heartbreak associated with this departure. We did not ABDUCT everybody ... that we wanted to get out." https://on.msnbc.com/3sXqh5g
Trillions are no longer a significant amount to our government.
They easily will spend a trillion before sitting down to breakfast.
You do realize that a lot of that spending came from the Obama administration too...
Right?
Not trying to excuse Biden's botched up retreat
I, too see it as a disgraceful.
But overseas outlets keep pointing at the waste of trillions of dollars (which could have covered Americans' cancer treatment and so on) during these 20 years. Nevermind the lives lost.
This is what I don't understand about Republicans.
They don't agree when workers ask for pay rises, because it will unbalance the economy (and there IS truth to that).
Yet they accept unconditionally the annual billions of dollars that get poured, FROM taxpayers' taxes, into the military overseas.
That seems to me to be a big generalization. I’m conservative (The GOP seems to be not much different than the Democrats politically.) and no, I don’t support trillions of dollars going to the “military overseas!”
I DO believe in a strong, well funded military in order to project American power worldwide as well as its use to keep the peace when necessary.
--The world is filled with evil dictatorships and when whenever America is deemed by these Dictatorships to be weak and unwilling to keep them in check by responding militarily to dictators unlawful actions, all hell breaks loose around the globe. It happened under Obama, Clinton and now Biden.
--However, endless wars seem futile.
Should we pull our troops out of Germany? They did start two world wars that cost a lot of Americans their lives. Korea? That could turn fugly quickly. Japan? They wouldn’t likely cause problems. But what do we do about China’s aggressive military posture? 90+% of the computer chips America uses in production are made in Taiwan. If the CCP takes over Taiwan, it would likely cause our economy to collapse in the short run. Israel is a stabilizing force in the Middle East. The Middle East, like it or not, is critical to the worlds energy supply. Should the U.S. military not have a presence in the Middle East and support Israel?
All complicated, not easy to answer questions.
