Yes, people do some of that. I know when I play we do follow the rules but have one my Mom came up with and she and I follow. When only two are playing, the first word needs to be at least 5 letters long. When less the game just doesn't get going because it is just the two of you.

We're carefree and fun when we're young, early to mid-life we get entirely too serious. It's during that timeframe, our health and our bodies go to the crapper. Once we get through that stage, we get carefree and fun again, but can't always complete the task at hand. It's a viscious cycle. hahahaha

Like most things, I've done it all assbackwards. I was a very serious and somber when I was young. That may be but that is were a sense of humor comes in handy. Besides, completion is really just the end of the task. The doing is usually what's the most enjoyable anyway.
