... was hilarious and strangely erotic. This is the first I have seen of it. What is it called? I am too lazy to look it up. They have just started with the ribbons now. Are there batons, too? This is funny stuff.

Holy shit! They are dancing with hula hoops now.

But seriously. What is ball dancing called?

Is it DanceSport?

Really? That seems sort of a quiet name for such an overtly flamboyant sport.

I might actually have to google this.

The rainbow ribbon dancers on now are dorktastic.

Ok, just googled, now my eyes are crossed.

Man there are alot of rules and styles.

The Italians are pretty hot, I will say that.

Are these the gymnasts who kept falling off the beam, so they kicked them to the dance team?

The Russians are very good at ball dancing, but the Chinese prefer watersports.

Seriously though, those routines were really beautiful. Those women are very talented.

It's "rhythmic gymnastics," never mind that jumping around waving a ribbon doesn't seem all that gymnastic.

I think it's a way to placate the Russians and allow them to win a few cheapo medals.

Bf was just discussing ball dancing in the context of rhythmic gymnastics. I get that it is part of rhythmic gymnastics, but it just seems there should be a fancy name or term or description for each of the apparatus used. I should not have to call it ball dancing. The name should be more elaborate, like orb prancing.

Synchronized spheric ballet.
That's the name we just came up with.

It's about incorporating various flexibility and athletic moves with the apparatus so it flows seamlessly while showing skill.
I used to do rythmic gymnastics many, many yeas ago.
Never at their level, but I wasn't too bad (won a local comp once).
I am still flexible ehough to do the splits both ways and I still have a box full of my old apparatus.

ball dancing?

been known to happen when the underware isn't adjusted properly.

That's what it's called.
