Olivianna's back!

Yes, yes, I see you've got a new av. I'm glad to see you've come so far in this time. I'm really proud of you. Really.

Yes, I was traveling. I went from one circus to the next. It was fun.

Incidentally, I scraped my finger a few days ago when I was in India. It seems to be infected now. Will it erupt into an avatar of Vishnu? I can't accomodate the millions of pilgrims who will wish to view my puss-filled sore.

It was great. Kind of cold, as there was a cold wave in N. India. Plus, buildings aren't heated, so it seems really cold all of the time.

I could've done without the pollution in Delhi, as well as the incessant staring/harassment of Indian men ("Hello, madam, what country you from?"), but overall it was an interesting and successful trip (i.e. I got a lot of work done).

Now being back home everything seems so clean and bland.

You been to India?

my sister is trying to drag with ther this summer, but I would prefer to see Russia and Eastern Europe this year instead
Well, India would be hot as hell. Where in India would you go?

I hate being heckled abroad. I find the worst ones are muslim countries, who will jump on anything and think western women are easy and the hard sell!
Guess it depends. I found that the Muslims I met in India were more friendly and respectful (of me as a woman) than others were. I felt more comfortable in mosques than in temples.

One thing I find about India is the romantic gloss westerners put on it. It IS a beautiful country, with freer, happier, healthier people, but theyd still swap their poverty stricken lives with ours anyday
True. Hey, have you read _Karma Cola_ by Gita Mehta? It's a kind of funny, cynical look at the whole Western hippie culture of India during the 1970s.

wha work did you go to do there?
I was taking pictures of buildings. (I study architectural hist.)
