i am hooked on the oldies mainly 60's does anybody else listen to the oldies , if so doyou have any favorite songs . some of my favorite songs are by the beach boys, fleetwood mac, jay and the americans, and garry puckett and the union gap, just about forgot the eagles.

I'm hooked to Motown music and other oldies. Hell, I was 3 when I learned the words to "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" by Otis Redding. To this day, I still know the words to a tee.

Any of the music from the 60's, 70's and early 80's and I am happy! Just don't give me that damn country shit! :p

I'm addicted to classic rock. Pink Floyd, Zeplin, The Who. I do listen to oldies every now and then. Of course I listen to classical, big band and jazz. Just can't stand country.

*choke gasp*

I listen to 70s music more than anything else, from ABBA to Zappa I love it all :)

i listen to things from all eras. 50's to the present. it's not too good a thing to distinguish ages too much. if you want a good song check out the bryds "i'll feel a whole lot better"

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I'm a big Foreigner fan...also love alot of classic rock. I love the Stones, CCR, some of the one hit wonders that did some of my favorite songs ("Wild Thing" "Wipe Out" and others)...Moody Blues. I'm not crazy about country, but know a few of the oldsters there also. lol

I just turned 39 ........... 30 days ago to be exact......... what tha f**k is up with calling 60's thru 80's music old?????????

I personally own close to 3,000 cd's.......... every Genre EXCEPT "RAP"............

Mozart, Beethoven, Hayden, Tchaikovsky.................. Now "THEY" wrote the oldies!.......... And personally, when I'm on the pc....... these guys are my favorites.

And to those who dislike "country"............ this Genre has finally come into it's own in the last 15 years........... "Country" music tells stories............... forget the background music, listen to the WORDS sometime............

LoL

Nights in white satin
Never reaching the end.
Letters I've written
Never meaning to send.
Beauty I've always missed
With these eyes before.
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore--
'Cause I love you
Yes I love you,
Oh how I love you.....

I also loved Go Now, Ride My Seesaw, and Wildest Dreams.

suzi

that song brings up so many fond memories back in the days when things were so care free!!!

"HORNY SEVENTIES MUSIC"

Earth,Wind & Fire
Chase
Blood,Sweat & Tears
Chicago
The Ohio Players
Average White Band
P-Funk!

CD'c, how aboput LP's

I own a bunch of CD's too, but that don't mean shit. I own close to four hundred Albums, and still listen to them, and can still read the name of the songs playing while it is playing. Oldies are a frame of mind, and the songs you are talking about are definetly not in my frame. Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, The Guess Who, ect., they are all my favorites, but the new groups have finaly decided to go back to their roots and play songs that they feel, like Disturbed, Saliva, The Drowning Pool, Rob Zombie. We had a number of years where rock became very melow as far as I am concerned, but it seems like the groups are finally starting to get some balls and going outside of radio or "MTV" play.

I remember the vinyls!

My father used to record stuff on them, worked for RCA! Mom had lots of LPs and 45s. I hardly saw cassettes or CDs till later...in fact my ex hubby had a few 8 tracks!

OMG I have a HUGE collection of vinyls. I dated a guy who was a DJ and he moved over to CD-R's soooooo...I got the vinyls. Just wish I had a better turntable to play them on. Someday!

Tons of oldies, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's rock, dance you name it. I love the blues albums personally but those were mine to begin with.

No Turntable

Hey Calypso_21, don't know if you get into them, but my wife does. Yard sales have all kinds of treasures. I decided to go with her for the first time in eons and guess what I found? A Sansui digital turntable, probably around $350 brand new, picked it up for ten buck because the people didn't know how to clean it. Brought it home, took it apart, cleaned out several years worth of dust and grime, oiled the neccesary parts and presto, a perfectly good turntable that is still working three years later.

hey suzi

what did your dad do for rca , did he record songs for people ?

Weeeelllll........

I was only about 2 or 3 at the time....I got the information later on! I also got to hear my cute little voice on the record he made with the RCA label. He had some kinda studio (Mom had pics of him). I don't think he recorded for any big music people or the like. But it helped him getting into projectionism and other electronic stuff.

FG live in Nashville long enough unless you are a die hard fan, you learn to despise country.

OMG, this is SO my thread! My dad raised me on Oldies. I didn't even start branching out into mainstream stuff until '95 or '96. I love most everything. Motown, classic rock, guitar driven, folk stuff; all of it.

In fact, I've only been to 2 concerts in my entire life. Both with my dad. #1 was the KRTH Legends concert with Chuck Berry and Little Richard, and #2 was The Moody Blues.

What can I say? I'm an old soul. :)
