LOL You wanna take them, then? I absolutely hate shopping :( I go in, get what I absolutely need, and run out as fast as possible...my daughter, on the other hand, loves to spend hours in the mall - and she's only ten!!!

Sounds like my wife. LOL She hates going shopping, if she can buy it online she will, even clothing; if it doesn't fit, it's easy to return. She doesn't care for being in crowds, so malls and such are distasteful to her.

*nods* It's the crowd thing for me too...just too many people...and they walk slow and get your way, or they walk fast and bump into you and never apologize *manners is a whole other rant for me lol* I like online shopping too, much easier to price comparision. And you never have to wait for someone to get it off that darn top shelf for you.

When you're five foot everyone you want seems to be on the higher shelves that you can't reach

Freudian slip? :D Just teasin' ;)

Don't get me started on manners. I don't know how many times I've been glared at simply because I held the door for someone (male or female) of had people rush by bumping without so much as an "excuse me".

Being polite and (dare I say) chivalrous sometimes doesn't seem worth the effort anymore. Everyone seems to be thinking "me first" and not caring what that effect has on others around them.

Oh well, what goes around cums around, I 'spose.

Interesting that you folks are talking about bad manners etc.
Here in NY we have our share with the worst of them behind the wheels of their cars!
It scares me at times...aggressive drivers suck!

As for chivalry....I always open doors for people, male or female, and the response is always positive for the most part.
As I've gotten older I've become much more friendly and relaxed around people and find it easy to give off some positive vibes(...I don't mean to sound all "groovy man" on ya but I don't know what else to call it
:) ) with the results being folks tend to sense I'm OK and are friendly back.

So to sum it up...I think there are always those uncaring people who have only "me-me-me" as their motto but I truly feel for the most part people are decent and want to be treated with friendliness and respect.
This is a complete turn around in my way of thinking and how I viewed the human race as a younger person.
Living here in NY fairly close to NYC
Sept 11 changed many things for many people including myself. That event had me seeing the good in people and the outpouring of human kindness, concern and what we all truly are which is together on this planet trying our best to survive and live our lives.
Beneath it all...after the layers are peeled back to expose us...we are all the same!

And that is enough deep thinking for one Sunday in January folks!

Max

As Maxell said, don't stop just because of some people. Hold the door for me and you get a thank you and a smile. At the very least.

I'll agree with you Max, I guess I got way too deep for such a lovely day. Back to watching the Colts walk all over the Chiefs, and finishing my Wildcat. :D

Oh, trust me, my dear, I'm not going to stop holding the door or allowing a lady to go ahead of me. It just sometimes get a leetle frustrating, but that won't stop me. ;)

One of my hobbies is building scale model airplanes. I'm currently working on a 1/48th scale WWII F4F-4 Wildcat painted to look as flown during the battle of Midway. I det into the history of this, researching a particular aircraft and how it looked at a particular moment in time; sometimes an event or person associated with the aircraft will influence me. It keeps me out of trouble, usually. :D

Now watching the Pack give it away to Philly...

Close... I've always been fascinated by the Grumman 'cats. I also happen to love cats, a lot more so than dogs. That's why I chose the nickname tomcatt (with two "t"s) when I first started chatting years ago.

Right now we have two cats, both rescued, and a senior Golden Retriever, also rescued.

Well, I'm off to finish making dinner...

Oops..well, does seem everyone is taller than me

I absolutely adore to have a door held for me, or a chair at a table. Some people really do think it's worth the effort

Manners are very important to me. Had my daughter's teacher try to tell her that Yes, Ma'am and No, Ma'am and Please and Thank You weren't required in her class - she proptly informed the teacher that if I found out she wasn't doing it she would lose her computer time lol *And I followed up on that the next day when I took her to school *
