Back when I was a *coughfashionmodelcough* and spent 2-1/2 years travelling in Europe, I brought an exacto knife and box of ten blades. I ended up using ONE blade for months-- re-honing it until it was thin as a whistle before I'd be willing to pull another blade from my stash.

I went out to help one of my friends with her secondary job. One of her customers needed a set of hurricane shutters put up. She had all of the hardware there waiting for me. (I had carried along my saws and drills.)

It was hot and humid but I got the job done in a couple of hours. (I also went through several gallons of water.)

Then came the surprise. The guy I was putting the shutters up for came out to my car dragging an oversized toolbox on wheels. The damned thing is almost brand new. He informed me he couldn't use the tools any more due to a medical condition. He left the tool box by my car and went back inside.

The blasted tool box weighed a ton but I managed to get it loaded into the car.

When I got home with it I took a look inside and almost died. The box was filled with older tools, the kinds I'm busily looking for.

One Bit and Brace, ancient.

One Draw Knife. (12 inch blade.)

Several small saws.

A couple of Linesmans Knives.

A pair of Wire Pliers.

Chisels of all kinds.

A Block Plane with replacable Blades.

Two Stilson Wrenches. (One large and one small.) Both with wooden grips.

A Tap and Die Set.

To say I'm happy about this is an understatement.

I called my father and mentioned this and he started laughing. Then he informed me he was going to be bringing me the Adjustable Draw Knife anyways. He didn't use it, and he had found several more blades for it.

Okay, I'd like to state to whatever gods might be listening that any spare tool boxes, such as has just been described, would be gratefully accepted by me!

I was looking for my Multi-Tool this morning and I'll be damned if I can find it.

I had it last week but now it is no where to be found.

Damn it, I like this one and I've had it for several years. (It's made by Victorionox)

Ahhh well, I do know how to find it. I'll go down to the local Home Repair place and pick up another nice one, (Gerber). As soon as I get home I know I'll find the old one.

Hey it's always good to have a spare.

I have carried Gerber Knives since I can remember. Their Trilaminate blades are some of the best out there.

I have never carried a Gerber Multi-Tool. If their quality is the same as their knives then I'm sure I will love it.

The one thing that I like about the Gerber over the Leatherman is that the pliers slide out of the handle so you can "one-hand" the pliers into position with a slinging motion rather than having to pivot the handles. Makes it a little bulkier, but not too much.

That sounds good but it isn't the one I picked up. I am now the happy owner of a Gerber Suspension.
