Old story, new username - frowned upon?

I had a different Literotica account many years ago, with only three stories on it. I want to re-work one of those stories, which has a few structural problems, and re-post the new version on this account.

Now, I can't think of any reason that this would be a problem. I deleted the story from my old account, so it's not like there would be two versions of the same story on the website. Could any of you foresee any issue with me doing this?

Laurel doesn't run everything through some sort of plagiarism algorithm that checks to see if anyone else has ever published something similar on the site before, does she? (I know they do this at my university.) In that case, if I just left a little note in the "Note to Admin" it should be fine, right?

Am I overthinking this?

You might need to provide some extra proof that you are both of your accounts - knowing the back-up email addresses should do it. Add the note, see how you go, and beware your own Alt. You know they only cause trouble ;).

A lady I do some editing for wanted to do the same. Anon reported her for plagiarism...

My advice it to sort it out before hand, like EB said.

Oh! No worries. So, if in the "Notes to Admin" section I just provide proof of my email address to the old account, that should do it? Cool.

Also, I will beware of her, and try to make sure she doesn't go rogue!

Wow! Okay. I just figured that no one would notice, but that does make sense that there would be genre superfans that would read everything within certain categories. It's in the erotic horror genre and that is one of the more niche sections, that I imagine would have a more dedicated following. I think I will need to put a little Author's Note at the beginning, in addition to the Notes to Admin and proof of email address. Thank you.

Yeah, that would be a good idea. I've had that experience of "hmm, pretty sure I read this before..." and unfortunately people tend to assume plagiarism rather than reincarnation.

Lisa: "It helps if you choose something less obvious than: 'electricblue65' or 'electricblue67'"

Jamie: "Like ours: 'not_jamie_and_lisa.'"

Oh no. You have made me re-evaluate my nom de plume and it may be too close to my real name. When I said, "old story published under another name" I was, of course referring to my novel, The House of Spirits. Rats!

This is obviously meant to be a joke. Please don't sue me, Isabel Allende. I love you.

That's okay, Lisa always publishes under the name of Saunders - Lisa G. Saunders. Nobody guesses that her first name is really Gloria. Although they do sometimes recognize her from her autobiographical performance in the 1972 film.

(Wow, referencing A A Milne and the Mitchell brothers together. ;) )

Nope, no issues with reworking an old, deleted story from a different account and resubmitting it.

Now that's a cunning strategy :).

What does annoy me, a little bit, is that Electricblue was already taken, but the account holder isn't a writer and the last time I looked, has no transactional presence here at all. Bastard.

But I guess it's given me the opportunity to maintain an ever so slightly micro-cryptic presence.

"Yeah, what does the 66 mean?" Suzie asked.

"Too lazy to be the devil, too old, too young; a small street not a highway, and three off a nice time."

YES!

I had an old account I deleted. The stories I posted on this account are a mixture of new and reworked from my old account.

Laurel rejected one story because it was posted by "another user," and she remembered it. I told her I was the same person, different user name and she posted it no problem.

I have had 3 or 4 people either comment or email me and accuse me of plagerism and tell me my ALT wrote that story. I deleted those comments after I reached out to those individuals and told them Same person different screen name. The explanation was accepted without any replies.

I cross reference my various linked pen names in my posting profiles--sr71plt and keithd here and habu and Dirk Hessian in the marketplace and in some other Web sites. When readers challenge who the real author is (and it's a compliment that they remember and take make the effort to point them out), I point them to these profiles to show they link.

I just re-submitted some long lost stories from my previous account with no problems. I just stated at the top that I was the original author.
