Little River Band - It's a Long Way There

Their first US single release and really still my favorite LRB song. It's quite a musically balanced song, between the opening strings, acoustic and then electric guitar following, and the vocal harmonies. The whole thing works for me.

I had the 45 of this when it first came out, but when I found out almost half the run time was cut from the single, I had to save up and get the album just to hear the entire song. Never regretted the purchase.

Grand Funk Railroad - I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)

Another great song that I had as a 45 where I had to get the album so I could hear the entire thing at my leisure. I'm grateful to my parents for putting up with me and my musical tastes, which varied from theirs greatly.

This version has the original "false start" to the song (it takes up about the first 15 seconds) which is cut from a lot of the "Best of" CD collections and copies on Youtube.

I love this song! And it blows my mind it was just three guys, I think the oldest was 22 then, and they wrote and performed a masterpiece. 🥰🥰🥰

Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffett - It's Five O' Clock Somewhere (Official HD Video)

Ziggy Stardust David Bowie

okay - one of my silly stories… I couldn’t quite place this tune, so I added it to the queue (I was already watching youTube stuff)… and after one chord I knew the song. And that reminded me of my time playing in bands (particularly on bass). There are a ton of songs I know how to play… but don’t remember them worth a damn by name. However, one or two notes in? Oh yeah! That song! I got this!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It is a good thing bass is not always needed to lead off a song. 🤣🤣🤣
