Okay this may seem frivolous to the based on the thread title but I assure you this is story related research. I need some songs and dances that every one remembers from the late 80’s and early 90’s. I know some of ya’ll out there used to do the cabbage patch or pop lock or the running man or something. Help a little sister out.

Push It - Salt 'n Pepa (Pepper?), was a massive tune in the clubs in the late eighties.

No dance to it as such, but we all wore short, but full, skirts, cropped black puffer jackets, DM boots, and the obligatory whistle.

Lou

"I was a male stripper in a go-go bar..."

Can't remember the rest of it, or who it was by, but it was massive. :D

The Locomotion!

Ok, Lulu did the original in the 60's, but Kylie re-released it in the late 80's, and it was huge again in the clubs.

This is all in England, btw. ;)

Lou - such a product of the 80's, it ain't funny (even had big hair).

Vogue, by Madonna

I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor

anything by Donna Summer

Moonwalk

The Bump - or was that late 70's?

Wedding dance songs - Chicken dance; YMCA

Break dancing

The wave, the robot, and the electric slide. You know you did them.

'Man to Man meets man parish' - for Tatelou, that's who sang the song she quoted.

Our school dances... I'm cringing here

Heaven is a place on earth - Belinda Carlisle
I think we're alone now - Tiffany
Livin on a prayer & Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi
Final Countdown - Europe
Stevie Nicks - I can't wait

Thanks! :D

God, we are so of the same era.

Oooh, and Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up. :D

The first 1,000 times I heard that song on the radio, I thought he was singing:

Then I'm gonna give you up,
Then I'm gonna let you down.
Then I'm gonna...

Rick Ghastly - should be consigned to the 80's bin of shame.

This post had me digging though my old tapes and cd's. I played 'Voyage Voyage' by desireless and 'I m nin aloo' by Ofra Haza over and over again... but I remember me and my friends had our bedrooms covered with posters of Nick Kershaw and A-ha later on in the 80's.

Nick Kershaw... the absolute shame of it lol :p

OMG, the shoulder pads! Worst fashion style inflicted upon women!

Quite!

Dallas has got a lot to answer for. :D

(Dest, sorry for the "brief" threadjack - just giving you a feel for the times. ;) :rose: )

Lou

Dallas and Dynasty - was hard to say whether the hair or the shoulder pads were bigger each season.

You still look adorable, though. ;)

Looks like a pic straight out of "The Breakfast Club". :p

(But you look more like you're dressed for a job interview than a date.)

I know! LOL!

I was going to the poshest restaurant in town. The guy's Dad was a professer of medicine at the hospital (later became famous for his research in cancer, and had a road named after him). My Mum let me borrow that to wear, cos she wanted me to make a good impression. I was such a good teenager (blurgh!).

My boyfriend's name was Richard and he went off to Uni in London. I went up there to see him a couple of times, but ended it because I wasn't up for a long distance relationship.

Regrets? Nah, course not. ;)

Edited to add: he asked me to marry him. Lucky escape for the poor guy.

Ok, that's more than enough. :p

Awwwwwwwwwwwww.

Sorry. Not even gonna remotely show you my pictures frm the 1980s. I was 6 when the decade changed and I had a big floppy fringe with white-blonde hair. And big round glasses. And a dimple.

The dimple's still there, but thankfully the rest has changed.
