Yesterday while occupying some time I got out a few of my old cruise books from my time in the navy. As I was looking thru them I found an old pic of myself in uniform no less. After scanning it I sent it to Midnight Angel. We discussed that particuler pic and both recalled me looking like that . BTW: she's getting spanked for ever letting me comb my hair in that style. We both seemed to realize the physical changes in me face, How I am showing my age I guess (36). I got to thinking about the ppl. here. Have you ever looked at an old pic and just said <OMG> is that really me?

The biggest changes in my appearance since then are: contacts, different hair style and color (going grey) mustache/beard and about +20 pounds.. she likes the way I look now more than then. she says i was anorexic.

Don't feel too bad about going grey man, my hair started the process when I was 17, I'm already about halfway there.

SG,

This is a topic near and dear to me. I try really hard to preserve and document photographs for future generations in my family.

I went to my 20th reunion this year. What a trip that was! I hardly recognized anybody. They all looked so old! lol Of course, nobody recognized me either.

Here is a picture of me at age 20ish at the Hollywood Bowl. I can't even remember my date's name. Isn't that sad? And he was so cute too! (Please excuse the 80s perm I'm sporting.)

Not a damn thing wrong with that perm ruby.

SG,

I can identify with this. The older pictures of my are quite a shock...I was very thin.....I have since put on about sixty pounds then dropped about half of it so I have filled out pretty well and found a happy medium. Just working on toneing it now.

It's funny how our self image changes over time.

Nic,

Old pics

I inherited a lot of old family pictures through the years.

I've gone through so many looks and changes, I hardly recognize me!

I was a homely baby, then turned into a "gerber child", and stayed cute and dimply until my teens. Then I looked anorexic and angry at the world. Then had a few 'comfortable" years after gaining some weight.

Well, I've matured and got bigger. But I'm happier and a redhead now!:D

Dammit, Ruby! THAT WAS ME! And here I thought you were too virginal to touch! Man, if I knew then what I know now...

;)

Seriously though...

It's fun to look at pictures with my boys...

They know me with wrinkled smile lines around my eyes and forehead... And a hair line that's maybe an inch back of where it used to be....

I personally have a great fondness for pictures from around 3rd grade... raising boys, I have much compassion for that little smiling guy!

I also make a point of showing them their grandparents pictures in their 20's and 30's so they get the idea that they weren't always gray and wrinkly... but they actually were really fun young people too.

no two pics of me even look as if they are of the same person , let alone any likeness of me nowadays

Fess up pablo, you're Clapton, he's the only man able to pull off that trick.

And Ruby, that was a bad perm but an awesome smile. Thanks.

My sister recently sent me all of my elementary school class pictures, (which she found in her garage when packing for a move to a smaller house.)

It was so much fun sitting with my granddaughters and letting them try to pick me out of the crowds.

I have a copy of my first ID card picture around somewhere, along with many other school pictures and snapshots from family vacations. I am always amazed at how much I've changed over the years.

For my nephew's graduation from High School Last year, I did a collage of his senior picture, his Dad's senior Picture, and My dad's Senior Picture. Both the differences and similarities were startling.

What a wonderful gift.

Preserving photographs is wonderful, but please everybody don't forget about the other aspect of it - document!

I inherited a big box full of photos from my grandfather, many appear to date to the turn of the century, but I haven't a clue who these people are. Sadly, there is nobody left in the family who can identify them.

My pics are a series of bad hair days....

Rubyfruit, that's really cool what you are doing. Makes me feel guilty about the piles of unsorted photos I have. :/
