"On June 11, 1992, Larry Jackson, a small-time crook with a lengthy record of non-violent offences, was arrested at a friend's Tulsa apartment. On the floor near Jackson's right foot a police officer noticed a minuscule amount of marijuana - 0.16 of a gram, which is 0.005644 of an ounce.

Jackson was charged with felony possession of marijuana, convicted and given a life sentence.

In Oklahoma City, Leland James Dodd was given two life sentences, plus ten years, for buying fifty pounds of marijuana from undercover officers in a 'reverse sting.'"

from Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosser

Well, I, for one, certainly won't be visiting the state of Oklahoma!

The book is quite good, by the way.

Books! I got many of them today! Eight, in fact!

Guess the name of authors who I paid to read!

Maybe it's me, but I could never understand the mental process that sent a "criminal" to prison for buying dope from cops. . . unless the cop went to jail for selling the dope, as well.
