Carl, Robyn and H had been through many things together. Highschool, summercamp, speechtherapy and many other linguistically concatenate experiences. To say they were firm friends would be an understatement.

In the heady summer of '69 (no 6 strings here) Carl and Robyn had become lovers. Through the mid 70s to early 80s it had been Robyn and H who'd pogoed together. After due experimentation and a modicum of middle class acceptance in the late 90s Carl and H had become a couple.

Now in her late 50s Robyn found herself untied and swirling in a fathomless foam of discontent. The kids had jobs (excellent jobs against all the odds) and were living on other continents, she was a homeowner that had no need of a home-owner-cheap-rate-loan and was more than happy turning over 5 million pounds a year for her absentee boss.

Miserable, miserly, self-seeking, egotistic, sloppy, shit shoveling, excuses for a human being had been applied, separately, but word-for-word to each of her now loving ex-lovers.

Along with the expletives, Robyn had delivered a severe abdominal wound and still livid scar to each of them.

Every time each undressed the other in the warm glow of their shared bedroom Carl and H were presented with these memorable trophies. They neither saw nor even vaguely re-called their application nor paramedically controlled emergency evacuation. What they did remember and willingly forgive were the epithets with which their various partings with Robyn were crowned.

Robyn was a home-owner with two lodgers and, try as she may, she could never forgive herself.
