looking for: The basic sites to see, perhaps a few days of exploration, kiddy friendly, perhaps some scuba (yeah I know, sharktown)

And that is gold coast/Sunshine coast bookings, Personally I recommend mid FEB- late MAR as your options.

Late NOV through mid DEC is schoolies...IE 17 year old sluts looking to get laid.

Mid Feb is the first week the queenslanders go back , so therefore the beaches arent going to be packed. So therefore, pre-post you get your choice.... if you arent after a beach up there, I can recommend others.

i forget, you have opposite seasons. Summer here is June-August so that is the best time for us.

Not looking to do any beach stuff. Mostly see the land, sites, horse trails whatnot. As long as its warm, its a fine time to go.

For all your diving needs, head up to Townsville (North QLD) to the Great Barrier Reef. There are some really nice resorts up that way, set right on the beach. The GBR is the BEST place to go scuba diving.

Check out Daydream Island as well; they have scuba, mini golf, hiking, wind surfing, all that fun stuff plus day care for the kiddies when you want some time alone.
