Ok so here I am, taking a break from the board and brwosing porn to go get a drink. The dog is on the couch chewing on something like usual.

I get my drink and come back to see the dog still eating whatever it is he was eating. Then it hits me that thing in his mouth ain't dog food.

That's right he's developing a little scat fetish there eating his own crap.

Anyone know if nasty needs a pet?

This is why animals go outside. When is the last time you fed your dog?

Oh so I don't feed my dog eh?

He eats bout 3 times a day. Eats better than me sometimes...the door is wide open. We leave the door open so the dogs can go in and out at their whim.

If it was up to me the dog would only come in when it's raining or at night.

But it's not.

Oh yeah, let me add this...tjhe dog brought this little "snack" inside with him from one of his many treks into the backyard.

It's a doggie thing. I found...

If your dog was eating his own poop, there is a product called "For-bid" which is added to the dog's food and is supposed to make is poop taste nasty... if you can imagine that!<g> You can get it at pet supply stores or from Dr. Foster & Smith's Catalog. However, some dogs also take pleasure in eating other dog's poop (lucky you). I've found that some dogs are so over anxious and excited to be in the great outdoors, that they become enamored by the scent of other dogs and will actually desire to eat that poop in the excitement. One way to combat this is to take your dog many different places, give her lots of exercise (off lead in a fenced area) and do some jogging on parts of your walks as well.

The "Leave It" command works best with anything on the ground that you want your dog to leave alone, including poop. Teach her this command using positive reinforcement at home - then bring some good food treats on the walk with you - so you can PRAISE her and reward her with some good food - for leaving the poop alone. Remember - you will need to reward her even if you "help" her away from the poop (i.e. drag her away<g>).

To end on a good note, it is my understanding that dogs replenish their saliva every 15 minutes, thereby cleansing their own mouths in the process. Some people believe (including myself) that a dog's mouth is usually cleaner than most people's hands. Although - you may want to invest in some hard-type doggie bones to freshen that breath!
