Thanksgiving is right around the corner, for us USA peeps, anyway.

Right after Thanksgiving comes Christmas.

With Christmas comes..... junk food!

What is your FAVORITE holiday only food. Not things like turkey that you can have any time of the year, but things you can only get at Christmas, like fruit cake, grandma's home made fudge, christmas cookies, etc. What is the calorie buster for you?

For me, they make little gingerbread ice cream sandwhich men. I LOVE those. I can easily eat three boxes per season, if I would allow myself to buy that many!

I also love the chewy peppermint candies. They look like the hard peppermint swirl candies you can buy all year, but they are chewy, and not so minty. I am not a huge mint fan.

Also, I LOVE all the home made candies my relatives supply me with! I admit, I hog it from the kids. They don't need it, they are to little to appreciate it, anyway! Plus, suger, during Christmas? Fuck that! I don't want them awake for a month!

So, whats yours??? Don't make me feel like the only calorie stuffer here!

Krumkakas.

OK, I know it sounds like something disgustiong, but it's a little norwegian (sp) cookie-thing. Really good, but a pain in the ass to make. I only make 'em for Christmas.

Eggnog!

Not entirely exclusive to the Holidays but when I first see eggnog at the supermarket I know the season is on its way.

Damn...I am soooo slow today.

I love eggnog too. Yummy.

*tip* Don't drink eggnog and eat popcorn. Not a good combo. Just ask the hubby.

Candy canes.

I know you can get peppermint all year round, but there is something about holding a candy cane by the curve in the end while you suck it to a fine point.

Ohhhhhhh that sounds bad! :D

THe best stuff, is that vanilla ice cream, with the mint Christmas tree in the middle. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!

mmm... I love all the flavored candy canes they sell. Pina Coloda was my favorite when I was younger, along with Cherry. I don't like the mint ones, they are to strong.

Strawberrry is another good flavor. :)

I'm sticking with the egg nog crowd.

I love the stuff.
Add a little brandy on occasion and i'm in Seasonal Heaven.

Homemade Christmas Danish...my Mother started making them when I was little...we get them once a year and they take two days to make...not all day mind you. They are sweet, buttery and melt in your mouth.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....................

This was a really bad thread for me to start. Now I want fudge, I want candy canes, homemade hard candy, gingerbread ice cream guys, etc.... I am such a pig!

Sage dressing... Slightly over cooked so its got a bit of crispiness to it! Yum!

baklava
I only make it once a year and it never lasts to long ;)

*looks out his window and sighs*

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas......All this friggin snow......."

My personal enemy are those chocolate covered cherries.

Damn things! Who needs crack? Those things are WORSE.

No-bake cookies!

My mom makes the BEST and she always makes sure she has enough extra to send some home with me. I LOVE those! She only makes em at Christmas, too, and peanut butter ones, as well!

We always come home from Christmas verry spoiled! :)

The only holiday oriented food I'm addicted to would be an Easter sensation... Cadbury's Creme Eggs. Oohhh yeah. I make eggnog all year round so it doesn't count in MuffinLand.

Ok, KM, you got me into a whole nother addiction!

-drools- I LOVE those eggs. Not overly fond of the caramel, or chocolate ones, but I love the good old originals, not to mention the cute little mini ones!

-sighs- Is it Christmas yet? I am REALLY in the mood for some good spoiling. Ham dinner, mashed tatoes, home made noodles, corn, biscuits, home made bread, fudge, cookies, ice cream, presants, cookies again, and the best thing of all....

NO MORE BABY IN MY BELLY!!!!!

the peppermint nougats? with the little christmas tree in the center?

They have them in the bulk food section at the grocery store.. On Thursday (day after halloween) i found them.. I told my kids "Christmas season is officially upon us. My candies are out for sale!" I bought a pound of them.. they were gone by Saturday.. (I had them hidden, so only I could find them) hehehe:D

MMmmmmm...... Yup, those are the ones.....

-makes a trip to Meijers....-

chocolate! ummm no, pistachio nuts!

i love Christmas cause i get what we call a "Survival Kit"
we started that a few years ago and what it is is a small wicker laundry basket (or huge gift bag) and we stuff it with the persons favorite foods! (I live for the undyed pistachio nuts!)
example...mine was one of those huge gift bags that stand about 3 feet high and inside was pistachio nuts (a 5 lb box) , hot salsa, natcho chips, one of those Terrys Orange chocolates, chocolate chip cookies, containers of the Assorted Licorices (the ones with that icing on them), boxes of chocolate covered cherries, creme centers, jellybeans, candy cane, plain salted potatoe chips, and a small xmas fruit cake (cause no one else likes them).
we do one up for my stepson and my son and they love it. they get a case of their favorite pop along with whatever else in candy and salsas and things like that included with the baskets.

i had mine gone way before the kids had theirs done. oh yeah, the "kids" are 16 and 19 and me (46)

ooooOoOoooo... Batter, luv, send me one! I am really just a kid at heart!

And cover up that chest! I can't keep getting horny with no outlet!

Ok, it's bed time, and I am still craving those home made goodies that I won't get for another 2 months.

Hmm... Idea...

If I tell my family the baby is craving some nice home made cookies, then perhaps I will get some goodies in the mail.

Does this really work?

christmas cookies ill have to work out about 8 times a week at the gym to burn off the fat but its worth it:D

there you go, just tell them you are eating it for 2 people.
if they still bother you about it, tell them to back off! LOL
an expectant mother knows what is best for her and her baby.

(that should keep em quiet right GB?)
good night!
