Uhhhhh... we came in and within a matter of months all but removed a military regieme that had control of 95% of the country and we're losing this war?

Destruction does not equal winning. And considereing the fire power you've got I'd be embarrassed to say it took that long...
But I suppose the target practice on food depots, hospitals and the odd village miles away from any action would have taken up a bit of time...
