Why are you dredging up ancient history?

Pulling five and six year old threads out of their quiet little crypts is not going to endear you to anyone, particularly if those threads have posts from dearly departed and greatly missed former forumites.

Quit it.

Chances are, if he/she really is blind, it's possible this thread won't even be "seen".

Either that or you'll have to wait five or six years before a dredge-up happens and a response is given...

Please forgive, what # lines tell me which threads are that old?

I'm sorry, Crimson maiden & Christo? something, sorry can't remember unless I click out of my edit field and loose my place to hear your call name again or space over your spelling. I am TRULY! SORRY! if I'm dredging up old and hurting memories. I'm trying to get help learning to read the meanings of the numbers labelled links and why some functions do not even show up on my JAWS voice program! I've been getting my sighted hubby to try to help me, but he does not read very well and obscure examples like protagonist and obscure are too hard for him even to pronounch much less pronounce! I just wish that I knew how to kestroke to get JAWS to read the missing things that I don't hear on the screen. btw: I don't even use the screen when Curt is not home! just the speakers!

On the forum page, to the right of the thread title is the last posters name. Above that name is the last date the thread was posted to.

I hope that helps.

Welcome by the way.

This JAWS program I'm not familiar with. I wrote a story a number of years ago about a blind man and through it met a bunch of blind veterans. Long story about that but I did learn a lot about braille readers and screen readers.

Hey Quesla!!!

Just letting you know that I sent you a private message. I Hope you can get it, Jaws is pretty complex to run, I have an older demo version... The reason why you don't know which threads are old or not is because, the new ones are bolded on screen and are usually on the first page, ( of the website once you get into authors hang out for example) I could not imagine what you go throught just to get on the internet each day. I am proud of you!

Now, to get my blind husband off his ass...

You might also want to check and make sure the display newest first option is set. It sounds like it maybe set to display oldest first.

Thank-you!

TX rad & Miss Red? -I open heartedly want to thank-you all for accepting me with my clumsiness on-line. I'm just learning to use forums and navigate as a participating member of Literotica. I have been reading the text stories for years now and thank the Lord & Lady that there is a site dedicated to text soft erotic classical soft type erotica The blind have few options on the very visuaally oriented net as far as erotic stimulation and philosophical mullings. I'm a very emotional and character interactive sensitive reader! How can you tell! First I'll try to get a grip on functioning on the forums! THEN!!! I'll try to learn the submit section and processes of getting my soft hetro erotic sci-fi/fantasy submitted. I still have a LOT! of hurdles to overcome, as my newer puter downstairs is an xp system with JAWSJAWS 7.0 and word 2003 on it. The three programs interact differently and my sighted hubby says he's found the keystrokes somewhat different, which will confuse and frustrate me! When I get JAWS to work with word 2003, I'll organize my Stellor Zephyrians stories and try to get an editor to peruse them. I don't even know the process on the editor link to get an editor to work with me? You don't know HOW! MUCH! I APPRECIATE! your HELP! Quesla.

If you need help, lovey, there are plenty of people here that are more than willing. Even going so far as to submit it for you, if you're willing to share your login information. That way you can just send your submissions to them via email and they'll do the physical submitting process for you, to make it easier.

We all tend to be a fairly patient bunch if we know you have a problem. We didn't realise before that you were blind and using a fairly complex program. I apologise for any hard feelings the misunderstanding might have brought up.

Welcome, and post away!

Maeve

Welcome to the AH, Questo. As someone who was totally blind for nearly a year and is still "hard of seeing" I admire your positive attitude. The AH is a great place filled with caring, supportive folks such as Maeveo, Imp, and Starrkers.

If you run into a technical snag, don't hesitate to send Manu a PM (not an e-mail) describing the problem. He's a nice guy who loves a challenge.

I'm another one eyed jack around here. I was legally blind for a while but surgery got my one eye back to near normal thankfully or I'd be you trying everything I could to read on line.

Any help we can offer, just let us know.

Editors there are in abundance here in the AH and proofreads by the ton.

Good luck and welcome to the club.

I offer my apologies for the tone of my original message. I assumed you were just out to annoy.

Sorry.

Not sure I can help in any way, knowing nothing of technical issues. But I promise to try where I can, and not be rude in future.

Hi Quesla. Welcome and have fun.

:D

In my sigline is a link to the Newbie Support Forum.
It's a handy place to ask all sorts of questions.

And if your hubby has the patience to wade through the entire thread: loads of answers there as well. ;)
Or can you have all of that read out loud to you?

Hi Black Tulip. Do I look in the headers running down the very beggining of the "Disscussion board? Or is it a thread & under which forum? -AH? Gen board? FFeedback? I will try to look for it. If I can't find it, I'll try to get Curt to scan down the columns with his much faster way using his eyes. It can get exhausting going through the pages of threads line by line listening to JAWS, a monotone electronic base voice one line & sentence or header at a time! I'gota question(that's why I call myself Quesla!)- Where do I find the link that's the letters in highlighted blue glow that Curt's described, that lets me click to start new threads? And? How do I find any threads that Curt previously helped me postusing his magical mouse so I can read" the replies from you guys? Thankx again for all being such a forgiving bunch!

I'm assuming from the very little I know about page readers.

working down from the top of the page, the fifth box of the hangout is a button entitled 'new thread'.

top of page is the title.

next row is a bunch of buttons starting with 'user cp'

Next box is nested links. literotica discussion board, leading to main literotica forums and then the title of the page: Author's hangout.

next box is 'sub-forum: author's hangout and below that is a link: the visual artist's corner.

the next box down from the left is the new thread button.

Hi Quesla,

I don't know what your screen sounds like, but for eyes: at the bottom of my post you can see some links, one of them leads you to the newbie support forum. It's a thread inside the AH, but impossible to find if you have to wade through.
Better to use the link and post your question there. Somebody will answer.

Once you have posted on a thread, you are subscribed so you can get emails to notify you of any new postings.

Hope this helps.

:D

Hi Guys Don't know how to pick and stick in thrumbs or smileys, but I'd like to give a big GRIN! & A Thumbs up! I have found a way via the search function to get it to list all threads I'm involved in or have started. I just type in my call name in the search box! So far I haven't found any of the threads I've started, but I have found many of the ones I've replied to. I am slowly figuring out each of the links are for, as some of the labels of the links are pretty obscure according to my poor reasoning skills! Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you! Goucho and Tulip very much! And thanks all for the welcome.

Hey quesla.

If you click on your name in the top left corner of any post that you make it will give a drop down list of options. One of those is "Find more posts by quesla"

This sentence should be a link to that page

Smiley faces are in a box on the right of your reply screen. They all have codes that you can learn and just type in. Colon followed by close bracket is a grin :)

A heart is the word heart closed on both sides with colons.

Same for a rose :rose:

That way you can just send your they'll do the Hi Meave? (sp?) Thank-you for this offer. I will dig up my 3 & a hlf floppies and start going through all my amless ramblings and trying to assemble the plots and story line better. I will very much appreciate this if I have trouble with the contents or links on the submit link on the main page. Seriously! For those who slunk off when they discovered that I was for real with the JAWS speech program? ... PLEASE! come back, I don't feel resentful that you might've not belived me. Curt & I have encountered other offers, and presentations on-line that were hard to believe, -like two Congo African Greys from Cammeroon (sp?) The seller claimed to be a missionary priest and would let us have the parrots for the price of shipping?!!! We went onto one of our e-mail lists for parrots and the people there all right away exclaimed " SCAM!" so there you go- I don't blaim you for not believing until you got further proof that I'm using one of the two main windows speech interfaces for text websites, -You'know?- JAWS can't help me at all with pictures and JPEG files or adobe acrobat- Unless there are labels or descriptive text paragraphs accompanying the photos, -They're USLESS! to me! I'd love to see some really YUMMY! slender lithe males on her, *Sigh!* I guess I'll just have to pm with some of your good looking guys, (any ages OKay from 20 to 60 right up my ally! Ha ha-ha! Again, not good at selecting those graphics so: Graphic kiss to those good looking guys and friendly hugs to all my new lady friends

Hi Quesla.

I haven't said hello before, because everyone else seemed to be helping you. Now I have to ask a favour so you can help me... When you're typing I would really appreciate it (and I'm probably not alone) if you could use the carriage return key a bit more. When reading text on a wide screen, like this, it makes life much easier if it is broken up into very small paragraphs.

I don't know if JAWS lets you know when there is a paragraph break, but this sentence is the start of a new paragraph. Anything longer than my first paragraph gets pretty tricky to read, trust me! So, we'll make accommodations for you (let us know if there's more we can do) if you'll make a couple for us!!

Further smilies you might like to know are the embarrassed smilie, which is a colon followed by a lower case letter O, and a sunglass wearing 'cool' smilie, which is the word cool enclosed on each side by a colon.

Good luck with interpreting screen names, too, by the way - many of them will confound your JAWS programme!

I meant it. If you would like help doing submissions, there are plenty that will do all they can. We all love the smut, you know. ;)

As for people sneaking away, it may just be that most of us have no earthly idea HOW to help you with JAWS. It's something most of us would never have to experience, so wouldn't have the foggiest how to get around the problems you're having.

Quesla, there is an easier way to find all the threads that you have posted to or started. Next to the search button on the top of the page is a Quick Links pull down menu. About the ninth link down is a subscribed threads link. You can click on that and only the threads that you're subscribed to will show up.

I am not sure what the default setting is, but if you click on User CP, and go down to edit options, there is an option on subscribed threads. There is a line that says "Default Thread Subscription Mode:" and a pull down box. I use "No email notification" which means that every time I post to a thread, including starting a thread, that thread gets added to my subscribed threads.

Another option is to subscribe to a thread directly. Towards the top of the screen when viewing a thread is a thread options menu. The third choice is subscribe to this thread. Select that and it will add that thread to your subscriptions.

JAWS says: "blank!"

Hi sorry, I get so excited, that I often forget to break up my thoughts into topics and paragraphs! JAWS will read a blank where I must put in an enter line between one thought and another new, unrelated one. I definitely need a lesson in paragraphing when I do get into my writting arangements. I suspect my Stellor Zephyrians is just that: a long block of ramblings without any breaks, except where there is dialogue and I'm not sure I'm even doing that right. I did a few poetry submissions in Highschool that did get good teacher comments though.
