I picked up the last leaves yesterday and put the driveway markers in. There were flakes coming down this morning and they're predicting 3-5" in the snowbelt where I live.
Last weekend I got the firewood split and stacked. It's time to hibernate soon. A fire and a dark beer sounds good. I like the winter beers best. Stouts, Porters and Barleywines. I read about this one this week and am going to look for a six pack next time I'm at the store.
How's this sound to you Ashes? Brrrrr.

I actually picked one up last week.
I havent drank it.
However I highly suggest the 5 rabbit..cigar city collaboration porter. That was every bit of delish.
I also picked up a case of black out stout yesterday.

Nobody up here carries Cigar City. Everything I've ever had by them has been great. I'll be in Chicago this weekend for the Fobab and might well see it or a version of it while there.
I'll be trying every Firestone-Walker I can find over there too. That's another brewer I can't get here that I drink whenever I do find it.

We got a pretty good amount overall last year, though no big blizzards. It was more the frequency of it. One snowfall was still melting as another came, so if I recall, there was a whole month where there was constantly anywhere from an inch or two to a foot of snow on the ground. At least, that's how it seemed. This winter, though, is supposed to be a rough one.

I agree! Seems like it just wouldn't quick. But ours never really melted. It just kept piling up. Made me REALLY thankful for all the farm equipment! lol There's no way the snow blowing or truck plow would have been able to handle all that snow and ice. As much as I love the snow... when you can't go out and enjoy it and it becomes a hazard, I'm over it.

Ive decided on the jacki os release in December. I just cant do them all. I was gonna hit Indianapolis for the bcbs release party but Im just gonna drive to ft wayne and try to get some.
Lots of ba stuff from them. Im super excited.
No nooners for this girl... I have a 4 year old to keep entertained with no power for 8 hours.

Three years ago at this event Goose Island had three or four special bcbs barrels, one had a ghost pepper in it, another was aged in a barrel that had previously been used to age Manhattan cocktails. They do some cool special stuff for this event. I'll think of ya!

Regarding the Cold and the Snow
People I know always accuse me of using my magical mind powers to summon forth the cold and the snow when it arrives, as I'm originally from the cold, snowy land of Minnesota. I accept my part in this, as I actually love both cold weather, and snow. I also have a tendency to laugh at Ohioans when they tell me it's cold, because I really do have something of a resistance to cold that kicks in almost as soon as I step outside.
