Kids today! No respect for the classics.

*sigh*

The Bowery Boys. Started as a movie with Bogie -- "Dead End". Then came "Angles with Dirty Faces", a sequel with Cagney. Then the boys went off on their own, starring in about a billion short features as the Bowery Boys, or the Dead End Kids, and replayed on TV ad infitum as East Side Comedy.

The leader was the Chief, Slip Mahoney (or "Spit" or a few dozen other names, depending on the year) and his sidekick was Satch, sort of a New Yawk version of Jim Varney crossed with Jerry Lewis. Satch's catch phrase, "Chiefy! Oh Chiefy!" was usually deliverd with the same frenetic energy and inflection of that kid Arnold in "Welcom Back Kotter" raising his hand and squawking "Ooo! Ooo!"

Alright, Boys, now that I've expurgated de facts of life to dis dame, I say we knock her ever-lovin' block off. Routine 63, boys!
