Man Accused of Hitting Woman With Gator - THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, July 17, 2004

PORT ORANGE, Fla. (AP) -- A man hit his girlfriend with a 3-foot alligator and threw beer bottles at her during an argument in the couple's mobile home, authorities said.

David Havenner, 41, was ordered held without bond Saturday on misdemeanor charges of battery and possession of an alligator. The alligator, which Havenner had been keeping in his bathtub, was turned over to Florida wildlife officials.

Nancy Monico, 39, told investigators that Havenner beat her with his fists, then grabbed the alligator and swung it at her as she tried to escape, sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. She said the animal hit her at least once. She also told authorities that Havenner threw empty beer bottles at her, Davidson said.

Havenner's version of the story differed. He told investigators that Monico bit his hand because she was upset that they had run out of alcohol.

Whew.

For a second there, I thought it might be our mayor in the news again.

To quote those great psalmists, Paul Revere and the Raiders (with Mark Lindsey), "Kicks just keep getting harder to find."

Rumple Foreskin

ooh, the truth in the thread topic LOL

(doesn't mention a certain dragon who wrote a story based on gators... :D)

Shouldn't he also be charged with animal abuse? Being hit with an alligator can't be pleasasnt, but being used to hit someone doesn't sound like a Kodak moment either.

They've charged him with possession of the gator and they'll probably charge him with abuse also if they find any trauma, either physical or psychological. I don't know how you psychologically traumatize an alligator but I suppose it can be done. :D

I would have called their home a trailer, not a mobile home because trailer dwellers have a certain nickname and reputation and these two sound like fine representatives of the stereotype.

Call him a fluffy bunny.

Anyone who has kids can relate to this...On Nickelodeon there's a show called "The Amanda Show" and one of the skits is with her and another boy doing "Hillbilly Moment" where she tells a knock knock joke and hits him in the head with an object. They did one like that...

knock knock

who's there?

alligator.

alligator who?

I'm gonna hit ya in the head with an aligator.

Life imitates art.

No thanks, I'm trying to quit.

What's a Judge Trudy?

It's a parody of Judge Judy that's done on the Amanda Show.

Obscure reference unless you have kids probably.

University of Florida Alum objects!

As the cow is sacred in India, we Florida Gators hold the Alligator as the most sacred being in existance. The very fact that anyone would use such a religious icon in such a degrading matter as to whack their girl friend is truely an offense against humanity. Send him to ole Sparky for such a capital crime and make it a message to all those considering violent behavior that to throw beer bottles is ok, but don't destroy civilization on account of not getting a blow job.

'nuff said well for now at least.

I don't think they even air that in my hood.

Is there other reasons?

on behalf

of my fellow kooky floridians, let me say: hehehe.

Mobile homes aren't called trailers because they really can't be pulled behind a truck once they've been installed. first of all, most are double wides, which means they're two halves united, secondly, they take the wheels and axles off and mount them on foundations.

but they still seem to attract tornados and episodes of Cops.

I'm aware of the distinction but some mobile homes can also be called trailers because they are towed behind cars or trucks.

As Abs says, trailers or mobile homes seem to attract more than their share of persons featured on Jerry Springer and the two featured on this thread are, as I said, fine representatives of the stereotype. I can just imagine Nancy saying, through her missing dentures, "Jerry, he hit me with a gator", and David saying, "She wouldn't give me no head".

WASPs and persons living in mobile homes or trailers are fair game for negative stereotypes and bigoted remarks. Probably most of them are WASPs anyhow. At least, most of those on Jerry Springer are.

All the guy had to do...

...was to swing a crocodile at her and all would've been ok. In a war between the crocodiles and Gators...the Gators shall always be victorious...save NCAA violations.
