I finally broke down and picked up a small laptop. Oops did I say small? I meant ancient, as in dinosaur. It's an Acer 586 100mHz with a floppy drive. (Floppy? I had to look around to see if I had any of those beer coasters around. Finally found ten of them in a box in the closet.) No CD-Drive, but that's okay.
Now I have to look around to find MS Works for Windows 95 on Floppies somewhere. (1.44 meg small discs.) Until then I'll be using word pad. No big deal though. Now I can wrote when I go out to the pool or when I'm in the living room with my wife, or where ever. I'm no longer chained to my big system. (Yahooooooooo)
Hey the price was right, I paid a whole dollar for it and it still runs Windows 95.
My wife is happy with it as well. Now she'll see more of me.
Have fun, and expect a few more stories from me.

Now I'm having memories of my 486/33 laptop (R.I.P.). It cost a lot more than a dollar and ran Windows 3.1.

That's cool. I did the same too a while ago. Mine cost me all of 50 bux though. Do you have any computer-savvy friends around? The easiest thing for you would be to see if you can borrow an old (with parallell port) external CD to install the software. Worked perfectly for me. I write my stageplays on my balcony these days.

Now that sounds like a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. (My father has several so I should be able to "Borrow" one for a while.
