It seems to me that you need to just ignore ALL your e-mails during ‘full edit mode’.

I know if I were the perpetrator of one of those said e-mails and read your frustration written above, it would certainly cut my e-mail off your list so you could edit away.

Although I am sure their intention isn’t to break your stride.
