A couple of months ago there was a report on the local news about a young man wo was shot as he broke down a home owners door. He was 16 years old and is now paralysed.

At the time there was outrage at this shooting. Slowly and over time the news changed to other things.

Today it went to trial. The Home Owner was on trial for about ten minutes, during which time he described what happened that evening. He described how the young man showed up at his door late in the evening, pounding on the door and screaming how he was going to kick the home owners son's ass. He described how he called 911 and then armed himself. He told how the young man finally kicked in the door even as the home owner could hear sirens heading in his direction. He also described how he fired once, hitting the teen in the chest and dropping him.

After this the teen then th teens mother were called to the stand to testify. The teen told an entirely different story. He told how he had come over to talk with the home owners son about a home work assignment and how the home owner had opened the door and shot him at point blank range for no reason. The mother testified how her son had always been a good boy. Never in trouble and pure as the driven snow.

The home owners lawyer then produced the Police Report complete with photographes showing the damaged door and door jamb. The lawyer also showed the kids arrest record, and had several Police Officers on the stand attesting to how he was well known in the area. His record included several Assault and Battery Charges. Breaking and entering, drug and weapons possesion charges. (Most of these charges are still pending due to a court backlog.)

The home owner was cleared of any wrong doing.

I love that "He's such a good kid" defence. No holes in that one what-so-ever

Awesome. That punk-ass kid won't be kicking in any more doors, that's for sure.
