Oh Que!

I have been off snce the 21st of July. Today was just another day for me. Thankfully, no PT.

That's got to be rough both financially and emotionally. You like to be busy and you like to work.

Not working is fucking killing me.
Not being able to mow moms lawn, I am not allowed to vaccuum, do dishes, squat, bend, I can walk for 15 minutes, not on rough terrain.

I feel like I am dying....I want to die, kinda...ya know? It would be better than the hell they are making me go through right now. Not to mention what my boss keeps saying.

With all those fuckin' restrictions, how are you fuckin' fucking?

Treated myself to a new countertop appliance today.

As they tend to be underused and take up too much counter space, I only get them if I find something really well-made or vintage.

For the princely sum of $3.50 I am now the proud owner of a very heavy Wolfgang Puck Panini Press.

The small one loves them and I think she'll like operating it.

You will consider this a travesty but I'm wondering if it gets hot enough that I can see her a steak in it.

I might get around to using it as intended. There's this great little vegan shop in Tucson that was near the Hotel Congress that had this great Panini with Welsh cheddar avocado and spinach.

Just looking at it I would think it is steak worthy.

What the fuck do I know?

Well I figure you probably have an infrared temperature gauge and probably have some idea how hot a grill is when you're using it.

I had been thinking about getting one of those George Foreman grills a while ago I used to have one top of the cheap single serving size. I was thinking that maybe those get hotter than an actual panini press so I looked it up and this Panini gets to 325 which I guess should be enough and some of those other kinds go from about that to maybe as high as 400.

I'll slap a chuck steak in it tomorrow and see how it does.

The press cleaned up really well I just heated up and wiped it down with a paper towel and used Q-tips in the grooves.

The chuck steaks I had in the freezer were sliced thin like skirt steak. Undoubtedly needs to be thicker. by the time I got a nice sear, it was cooked through more than I would have liked.

I like the way the thing is engineered so that it can take any thickness of item and that you can press down on the handle and apply pressure as needed.

I have a feeling it is going to end up just taking up counter space most of the time, though.

A few days ago I found a metallic maroon KitchenAid stand mixer with all the attachments for $80. I reluctantly passed on it though because it was the 375watt version. I had one of those before and they really aren't strong enough for bread dough which would be half the point.

Hi Elizabeth!

Que! You still alive and kickin'? ;)

Barely.

Some newbie has been trying to steal my most profitible client, so I get up at 1am sometimes to kick his ass. Work showed me logged in 95 hours (6 day week) 2 weeks ago. I think I've got him thoroughly discouraged I was able to actually collect a fee on that account 12 out of a possible 12 times with only 76 hours worked.

Just luck of the draw I found out about a brand new client the very first day he popped up. It's a three-day-a-week opportunity. The following week the first day that account had an opportunity I was in place 2 hours early and my company sent me for a mandatory random drug test out of the area because there was no clinic in the area that I work.

So naturally, someone else found out about that and took my lunch money all three days that week. Last week I got it one out of three times, but I was in place for a second time and past because I had a more lucrative opportunity that pops up about once a month.

The upshot is that I'm exhausted all the time.

There's a fair amount of hurry up and wait in my line of work and I think my relative absence here has more to do with the fact that there just isn't that much of interest on the general board these days. I'm not alone in that lament.

Jezzy!! How ya been?

She (and you) I have also been conspicuously absent. The place is poorer for it.

At times this place needs a certain number of good posters making post to reach critical mass so that it moves forward in some sort of interesting direction.

some people haven't posted in so long that I'm starting to think of them as what's his name or what's her name where I remember something that they used to do but I can't for the life of me off the top of my head remember their name.

The wait for the fries to finish must be interminable.. But so worth it, McDonald's has the best!

Thanks for your service.

Hi Elizabeth!

True story:

I used to think that that lyrics said I like 'em kinky.

When I was young the local country radio station KNIX used to give out bumper stickers at the Circle K. People use to get two of them cut them creatively and make a bumper sticker that read, "KINKY"

I had heard the term pervert and perverted and considered that a pejorative but somehow understood that kinky was both sexual and positive.

I didn't at that time really have any idea what would constitute a kinky sexual but I instinctively like the idea.

Sounds like your head is spinning just as fast as ever. ;)

Yeah, I barely look over here anymore. :(
