From Today's L.A. Times:
A Republican women's club in San Bernardino County sent out a recent newsletter with a photo of Barack Obama surrounded by fried chicken, watermelon and ribs, sparking widespread outrage and rebuke from GOP leaders and Democrats. The illustration shows the Democratic presidential candidate's head atop a donkey's body on a bogus $10 bill referred to as "Obama Bucks." Inscribed on the money are the words "United States Food Stamps" surrounded by stereotypical African American food.

"I apologize to anyone who was offended because that was not my intent," said club President Diane Fedele. "It was poor judgment on my part. It was strictly an attempt to point out the outrageousness of Obama's statement that he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

The caption reads: "Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills. If elected, what bill would he be on ????? Food Stamps, what else!"
:eek: You know, at this point, if I were a Republican, I would friggin' run from the party. I know members of any group can do really stupid things but...I'm not going to even ask "What were they thinking?" Clearly, no one was thinking. Who in their right minds would imagine this wouldn't come back to bite them on the ass?

The same people who tried to sell "Obama Waffles" with a cartoon Obama wearing a turban on the package?

And just think of the outroar they'd have made if some Dem organization had published something implying the need for women to be kept barefoot and pregnant! What a brainless collection that club must be. Obviously they need a m . . . uh . . . never mind. :D

A segment of Republicans is finally showing their faces, after keeping them covered with white sheets for years.

Some people are proud of being stupid. This year, the Republicans seem to have cornered the market. For instance, right-wing radio talk show host, Bob Grant.

Radio host Bob Grant asserted that Obama created an " 'O' flag,"
but apparent flag in question was Ohio's

Summary: Radio host Bob Grant asserted that Sen. Barack Obama "is not content with just having several American flags, plain old American flags with the 50 states represented by 50 stars[.] He has the 'O' flag." However, the flag to which Grant apparently referred was actually the Ohio state flag.

Only thing I can think of is mat and min being fucked over by British immigration. Details on the mood thread.

They'd be joining McCain and Palin who seem to be running against the Republican party as much as Obama/Biden are.

yeah, but it seems to be a different Republican party than those other guys are running away from...

An O flag! That made me laugh out loud on several levels!!! Thank you, I hadn't seen that and I needed the laugh!

Glad to help, Jomar.

I probably should have posted it on a humor thread.

Just heard that the Chicago Tribune will, for the first time in its history, endorse a Democrat, Barack Obama, for President. Rumor has it Colin Powell will do the same this Sunday on, Meet The Press.

Yup, and the sun-times, and the LA Times.

I started a thread-- but probably made the title confusing. :eek:

Hm. I suppose you're trying hard to show that some Dem club did just as bad, but since I don't understand the reference you're falling flat as a pancake. But I am curious to now how any Dems saying or doing anything foolish excuses this unconscionable action. Do explain it to me.

I don't actually think he was implying anything with that statement. But that's just my perception.

:confused:

No, that was actually a typo. It should have read "Some Republican club". I'm not doing too well tonight. Maybe I'd better just shut up and go away for a while.

This was truly a rotten thing to do, and completely indefensible. :mad: As for the caricature of Obama on the waffle package, was he wearing a turban. I seem to remember that his head was bare, and his ears were rather prominent. :confused:

Political cartoons are a staple here in Chicago and none better come from the Tribune and the Sun-Times. But since the Sun-Times and Tribune merged a while back it doesn't surprise me that they would endorse Obama.

You tube video of Obama hung in effigy;

On the other hand, Ben Smith documents the phenomon of racists who are undecided, or outright voting for Obama;
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14691.html

And a friend of mine passes this possibly apocryphal story along;

So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, "We're votin' for the n***er!"

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly: "We're voting for the n***er."

Wow.

On the other hand, I'm certain that the - that Obama - appreciates the vote.

And so will the well-being of the country.

This would be one president you'd never see in public, I fear. And the precautions could, if handled wrong, make the current state of edgy civil rights seem gentle. If handled wrong, I emphasize.
