Actually the program was titled, “Dimming Sun” broadcast on PBS, April 18, 2006.
It was about halfway into the program before they actually used the phrase, “Global Dimming”.
PBS is famous for sensationalizing and dramatizing programs with intense political agendas and they didn’t disappoint with this broadside either. This included showing starving children in drought ridden Africa, burning rainforests in the Amazon, amazing shots of melting glaciers and flooding cities, famine and pestilence, all in the future as a result of those nasty industrial types polluting the atmosphere.
“We got to stop using coal, oil and gas to create energy!” They whine, again and again.
A flare for the dramatic at the beginning as the producers even used the events of 9/11 to open the program. Since all planes over the United States were grounded for three days following the terrorist attack, the sky had no ‘polluting’ jet contrails filtering sunlight. They quoted scientists measuring a 10 percent increase in sunlight reaching the surface as compared to September 10th, the day before.
There was a tremendous amount of very expensive research, graphics and filming world wide involved in the production of this propaganda piece, include $25,000,000 spent on a summer long experiment in the Maldive Islands by scientists from around the world.
What they discovered, much to their consternation, was that global temperatures were actually decreasing as a result of high atmosphere pollution. A conclusion in complete opposition to the Global Warming freaks.
Global temperature decreasing by about the same amount the Global warming community projected it was rising. Well, they said collectively, this can not be!
Thus, they spent the remainder of the program proving how ‘cooling’ was really, ‘warming’ and both were bad for the environment and would eventually bring total catastrophe to the world as we know it.
More left wing, ecological, anti industrial propaganda.
One further complaint, throughout the program they kept switching from Fahrenheit measurements to Celsius measurement, but always stuck with meters and kilometers instead of yards and miles.
Now, I personally have had enough of this crap. Back in the 70’s, the pointy headed European lovers association set forth on a nationwide effort to convert the United States to the Metric System. The people, state by state, said not only NO! BUT HELL NO! and the effort was dropped. But they never give up trying to convert us Yanks.
I am sick and tired of hearing meters and kilometers and I want all you shitheads to knock it off!
I thought since such tomfoolery as the mix-up between miles and kilometers caused miscalculations that crashed a multi million dollar probe on the surface of Mars, that those pointy headed pissants would finally get wise. I guess not.

A Taxonomy of Skepticism

Dimming the Sun homepage
"...Filmmaker David Sington has been making films about the Earth sciences since 1991, but it was a film he made 10 years later called "The Day the Oceans Boiled" that really opened his eyes to the threat from global warming. "Dimming the Sun" is the second film he's done on the subject, and he's working on a third. Here, Sington offers his opinion as to why many people in the U.S., more so than in his native Europe, remain skeptical about how much global warming is due to human activities.
Like most films that we at DOX Productions make for NOVA, "Dimming the Sun" is a coproduction between a U.K. broadcaster and WGBH, Boston. So we are well used to creating two slightly different versions, one for the British audience and one for the American. Often the difference is simply one of language, those little Britishisms and Americanisms that cause so much innocent amusement (you say "tomato", we say "genetically modified organism"). But "Dimming the Sun" posed an interesting and unusual challenge: how to deal with the fact that British and American viewers are, so to speak, in a different place when it comes to global warming..."

I have personally reached a point where I feel I cannot trust the honesty of any research done and publicized in such a grand manner.
There is a great deal of important research that could be done, to understand both short and term global weather phenomena, trends and cycles.
As pollution in the air, ground and water is in the main, not a benefit to anyone. The efforts of environmental scientists seems directed at destroying industry and thus the economy of the entire world rather than solving problems.
It is unfortunate that science has been corrupted to this degree by left wing politics.
