God I'm funny! Here's my idea -- I'll post a big message that says "Fuck You!" to everybody just to see them get all upset. And then I'll say, "Haw-haw made you look!"

*tee-hee" Isn't that just the funniest? Tomorrow I'm going to put dog poop in a paperbag and set it on fire and see if somebody, well, you know...! *tee-hee*

And then I'll talk to a few people on MSN and post photos of me with puppies and tell them about how I cry at Easter Seals commercials cause I'm really nice guy if you just give me a chance you guys!

Or we could talk about this instead: http://www.classic-trash.com/gamelist.php?genre=2

Remember King's Quest and Manhunter and Battle Chess and all those other computer games from the 80s? They're all here, and they're all free. I learned a new word: "Abandonware". Apparently the companies that created these games don't care who has them now, so download and play to your heart's content.

Me, I'm anxious to take another wack at King's Bounty, my favorite from years ago (though I can't seem to find a Mac version anywhere). They also have Darkseed, The Legend of Kyrandia, Dune, Quest for Glory, Space Quest, Baldur's Gate, Might and Magic, Lord of the Rings, Monopoly, Risk, etc. They have classic action games, adventure games, arcade games, roleplay games, simulations, etc. -- all for FREE. (The link above takes you to the Action Games list). Find that old game you used to love and play every day for a year, calling Sierra Hotline for tips, buying cluebooks at Walden's.

*sigh* Just when I thought I might get some work done today, too!

I loved second grade.

"Haw-haw made you look!"

Made you look you dirty crook,
Took your mother's pocket book.
Took a dime, bought some slime.
Now you look like Frankenstein!

*racing off at top speed to look for "Fool's Errand"

Oh....Dix...remind me to kick you for this. I'll NEVER get off the damn computer now.

LOL I know! I love people who post on the same "I know you are but what am I?" level as my six year old. Brings me back to the days when you thought if you said "Doody" more times than anyone else, you won!

It's amazing to think about all these games being available for free, and quickly downloadable. I couldn't afford them all way back when, and now they're mine at the drop of a cyber hat. And ONE game alone made me waste many a week -- imagine what a hermit I could become now!

*pounding head on desk*
No Fool's Errand...I'll NEVER find it again...waaaaaaaaaa

And, um, Lioness, we can ALL see what's sticking to you and it's not Elmer's

Thanks Dix. I love the old classics. Bookmarked it for later.

I remember the first time I ever saw Larry the Lounge Lizard. Ron Darian, a comic from the 80s, brought it into a club one night on his new laptop computer (what the hell was a laptop computer??!!). This must have been around 1985. It was blacka nd white, and probably had like a 1mg hard drive and used these new-fangled floppy disks that were small and not really floppy. (Remember when they were actually floppy!) I played the game for thirty minutes - almost missed my set.

I quickly went out an purchased my first computer, a PC Junior that my friend was getting rid of. I don't think it even HAD a hard drive. No mouse. Totally DOS. Word Perfect 1.0. And something called Tornado Notes. And I could only play a few games like the first version of Jeopardy.

I quickly moved up to a Mac SE (4mgs! Wow!) and Sierra, Broderbund and Microprose became my game sources. I spent a lot of money calling those damn hotlines just to find out you had to put the apple in the magic well to get past the evil Snow Dragon or some shit.

I can see my son getting hooked on games just like I did. When he's 40 he'll probably tell his kids about the dinosaur days of 120mg hard drives and ten minute download times.

I went there and twice tried to download....

And it won't let me - accused me of getting the address from an improper source.

And even when I went to where they suggested "the real home page" and tried it - still - same thing.

No games for Sparky - guess I'll go back to Operation.
