Officer Friendly Strikes Again

Oh my!

Locally, neighbors called the cops cuz they were concerned about the welfare of their neighbor. The neighbor was in her 50s and lived alone.

So the cops go to her house and prowl about her yard unannounced. She heard them out in the back yard. And got her pistol before she opened the curtain to look out. The cops shot her thru the window. She was a threat to a law enforcement officer.

Its an interesting collision.

I don't understand why the cops were called... It might be because I'm sleepy. But do what now?

The people next door asked the cops to do a well person check. SOP requires cops to knock of the door first, then check the premises if they get no response. Apparently two cops took the call, no one knocked on the front door, and the cop who went in the backyard shot the woman when she looked out to see what was going on.

But why didn't they just go check on her if they were so worried? I mean, it's a little old lady all alone that they were apparently worried about. Why would you call the cops for that? Cops have fucking drug busts and shit. We're the country with one of the highest murder rates in the world. Why the fuck would you bother the cops with that shit? Why wouldn't you knock on the door all, "Mrs. Oldman, we were just wondering if you were alright. Would you like a cup of coffee?"

Like somebody who had some goddamn sense and compassion.

Well, duh Candi, she shot a cop...

They knew she was armed and dangerous.

:D :D :D

PS - The Cops know who is doing all the murdering, but they cannot profile and harass the little fuckers without being accused of being racists and acting stupidly...

It upsets the beautiful people.

1) More money in drug bust than solving murders...plus it protects the interest of elected officials(popo's boss's) constituency....big pharma...farmers...tobacco ...private prison industry...etc

2)Neither the gubbmint nor the cops give 2 squirts of rat shit about a million people's well being much less 1 lil ol' lady.

3) That's the dirty side to being left wing libs, socialist, dems, commies......sending the gov in IS an act of sense and compassion. Gubbmint services are the end all be all, that's why they love to pay high taxes, so they can send someone else to deal with that buuu shit, remember?;)

You don't actually think James' story is real do you? Last week his story was that a Democrat parked his car on top of his granddaughter and calmly filled up gas when she was right there screaming with two shattered legs. Now also in his neighborhood police are gunning down innocent women who are looking out their windows?

This kind of story has to make the news but I can't find anything about it. Show us a link or you're lying James.

Here we go.

St. Pete police shoot, kill armed woman
Published 2:48 am, Monday, April 29, 2013

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A St. Petersburg police officer fatally shot a 53-year-old woman who pointed a gun at him.

Police say officers went to the woman's home Sunday night to check on her welfare. A neighbor had called police earlier, saying the woman had been acting strangely all day.

According to police, a field training officer and his trainee went to the front door, knocked and announced their presence. A backup officer went to the back door and knocked. The woman pulled back the curtain on window next to the back door and pointed a silver Smith and Wesson .38 special revolver at the officer.

A police report says the officer fired three times through the window, possibly striking the woman twice.

An investigation continues. The officer has been placed on administrative leave.

So do we go with the police who say they announced themselves as per standard practice or with James who said that the police showed up and just went into stalker mode?

IDK, I don't really care either....

My post was in response to Candy and his questions as I understood them.

A) Why are the cops snooping/shooting up old ladies when they should be out solving/preventing crimes....esp ones where people are victimized.

Which my response 1&2 cover...it's not protecting the interest they are hired to protect and they don't give a fuck cover that pretty well.

and

B) Why would neighbors call the cops?? Why don't they act like human beings and go say whats up to the old bat???

Response #3...Side effect of nanny state liberalism...."Call the authorities" is the "Go to" response for anything....from curiosity to the slightest butt hurt...call the authorities.

Sometimes people get worried about their neighbors. Maybe she was mentally ill or they heard disturbing sounds or something? What's wrong with that?

How is this at all political? Are you suggesting that conservative people wouldn't call the police if they suspected something was going on next door? We don't have any details - maybe she was in there moaning or yelling at the walls or something. *shrug*

I don't believe the cops. I'm not saying they're lying in this inststance, just that they would lie if they thought they had to cover their asses.

So you think the cops just started slinking around the woman's house for no reason? The report says that one of the cops was a field training officer with his trainee - you think the training included specifically avoiding announcing their arrival and stalking around the house for no reason at all?

If you say you don't believe their story you can't cover your ass and not accuse them of lying. They either did or they didn't.

B) Because they know she's a crazy loon who owns a gun, duh.

I had an infirm neighbor next door that the police would do "welfare checks" maybe twice a year when her out-of-state son couldn't reach her and we weren't home (he'd call us first if she didn't answer...one time she'd fallen down and gotten stuck between her bed and the wall!)

Having said that, I don't recall them ever doing welfare checks at night. Seems like too many things could (and in this case, did) go wrong.

Only a nanny state liberal would allow police to get disabled people unstuck from their furniture.

Did I say there was anything wrong with it?

It's a rational explanation....the state is an imaginay construct of rules/ideal/philosophies we all agree to live by right? I don't think it takes a sociologist to realize these rules/ideals/philosophies have a profound impact on the culture that lives under them as much as it is a reflection of that culture.

The liberal nanny state does promote more of a "Call the authorities"/"Let the state handle it." mindset...even bleeds into various aspects of our culture...from comedy sketches to music and literature.

Conservative/religious states....they have their cultural influences too...each according to their various religion but even still i bet they have a lot of similarities as far as cultural influences go. A little more boot strappy than the libs but not by much...they like to use the church to help with problems in/among the community. They just don't like to admit religion is an outdated form of government and the church is just a fancy town hall with gore porn for trim because the morons think it might make them look bad when put that way....

Other states like a libertarian ones promote a lot of tribalism.... Somalia for example. Rural you have the wandering desert tribes...urban you have nothing but gangs for government(urban tribalism) so they keep everything in house...in the family/gang. You check your neighbor b/c no one else will.

Which is wrong which is right? Guess that depends on who you ask and how they are looking at it now doesn't it?

Pshaw, we didn't require police to get her un-wedged. A small block and tackle worked just fine, thankyouverymuch!

AND we were well-compensated for our labors, with a large pot of homemade chicken soup the following week.

The legal question is: Did the woman have a right to possess a gun inside her home, and did she have a right to protect herself?

The cop is supposed to be the competent professional and be aware that innocent people do weird things. The cop had a brief panic attack, seems to me.
