Tell you what... I forgot about a couple things I have to do, so let's change the date. How does Sunday, the 13th sound?

It'll be better for me, and give us a weekend to finish up. OK?

A villa sonnet? Ange? You up to that? This one's a freebie- you can pick any style you like, Foolie!!! :p

He doesn't even know what it is. He's just picking on me! :D

Must be posted on this thread Sunday, March 13th.

Darn, just when I was going to put this thing on The Spike and give it up as a Lost Cause!

Sufferinsuckertash woman!

;)

WSO... you're spitting!! eewwwwwwwwww

You can do it, sweety- I have great faith in you!

Now... go wipe your mouth!

Rats, I never spit! Oh wait, maybe it's the false teeth getting a tad too loose again and the gums kind of thrusting out when I say the ffffff part... yeah that's gotta be what it is. Sorry about that, here let me just wipe that bit off your... ah that's better.

I'm up to my sixth re-write and about to use the round filing cabinet under the desk. lol

you have plenty of time... go read something... take a hot soak.... come back later!

said she who has not written the first word yet...

Actually a nice cool shower might help. It's the middle of Summer here! lol

I've tossed it out and started writing it again... ;)

Close your eyes and stab your finger into a dictionary and see what word comes up - there's your first one. lol

lol Thats like telling your fortune with the bible...

I don't have a dictionary.

Wow on both counts. First, I never tried that. I might just do it later on, only I think I'll stick with the New Testament as the old one has just too many people and too much scrapping in it.

Instead of a dictionary, pull a book off a shelf, or a magazine, or the phone book, or SOMEthing... Just hope you don't end up with the word gelid. It sounds decidedly squishy.

Word of the Day for Thursday March 3, 2005

gelid \JEL-id\, adjective:
Extremely cold; icy.

The weather is gelid on a recent Thursday night--so uninviting that it's hard to imagine anyone venturing out.
--Letta Tayler, "The Accent's on Brooklyn," Newsday, April 6, 2000

Last January a major crisis arose when the Argentine naval supply ship Bahia Paraiso foundered near an island off the Antarctic Peninsula, creating a diesel-oil spill that inflicted untold damage on the ecosystems clinging to the edges of the icy continent or swimming in its gelid seas.
--Christopher Redman Paris, "Could anything be more terrible than this silent, windswept immensity?" Time, October 23, 1989

(Sorry, I keep getting this darn thread as a subscription. Just realised there is a button at the bottom of the reply screen that controls it. Please resume what you were doing and what or who you were doing it with.)

That is more like it....that vile sonnet that soaked out my brain....

A vile sonnet? Sounds kind of mean-spirited, don't you think?

There... it's done...

Simpler Days

A new old fashioned challenge for one and all.

Rules:

Poem can be any form.

Must be posted on this thread Sunday, March 13th.

Title will be Simpler Days (a villanelle, haiku, free verse, etc.)

Multiple entries allowed.

All judging, critiquing, slamming will be done by the other entrants, and will be done here, on this thread.

Each entrant must contribute something to each other entry.

Thats it, folks! Go write!

P.S. To The Moderators. It's a given that there will be banter on this thread. I would ask, though, that it all be removed the night before we post our entries. Would one of you help with that? Thank you.

After the challenge is over, you may submit or not, as you see fit. (This is a good thing; it will give you time to do revisions if you'd like.)

Villa Sonnets are optional.

Fool's entry is not.

Either is Ange's
.

I refuse to write this thing until someone explains to me what it is. I think that's fair, don't you? :D

Unless of course you just want a vile sonnet. I have some of those I could adapt...
