So, PV (and others), why in the world is it called off the wall? And can you have an on the wall conversation?

Off the wall has its origins in squash, handball or raquetball where a ball coming off the wall can call for some nimble and unplanned maneuvers, just as an off the wall conversation is unplanned and a little different from the norm.

I have a dictionary of cliches that included that .......and way too much time on my hands this evening.

So, do you think that alfredo sauce was invented by a guy named alfred?

I think his name was Alfredo.

He's nothing to me now. He's not a brother, he's not a friend. I don't want to know him or what he does. I don't want to see him at the hotels. I don't want him near my house. When he sees his mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won't be there.

Something Off The Wall and goofy, I suppose.

My ex-lover loved the movie Ants, so when the movie Ants came out on DVD, I bought it, then I rented an Ant costume and hand delivered it to her. Is that sorta what you had in mind.
