Of your own stories- which is your favourite?

Ok, this should be one of the last questions I will plague you with for a while-

Of your own stories on here, which one is your favorite? And... why is it your personal favorite? Also- only if you wouldn't mind it, a link to that story would be wonderful! :rose:

I'm hoping for some new reading material when I have the time  but of course, that isn't needed, I'm always interested in hearing people's thoughts in general.

Maybe it's an indictment of my capacity for self-improvement, but I think my favorite of my stories was my second one, written over three years ago: In The Hallway. It's a light BDSM story about a chance meeting between a young man and a young woman in an office, and each responds to the other with a seduction/power exchange strategy that each learned on the Internet the night before. The man, a hopeless nice guy, decides to follow a strategy of never asking, but instead telling a woman what to do, and the woman, who's hopelessly picky and critical, decides to follow a strategy of never saying no. It's a contrived conceit but it was fun to follow it out and narrate what happens between them as they wrestle with, but ultimately follow, their respective strategies over the course of a day in the office.

The story is told from both points of view, and I think that's part of what makes the story work. Plus, the last line of the story is, in my view, the best line I've yet written in any story.

It remains my highest-rated story and placed second in the BDSM category in the contest for best stories of 2016.

I think just as soon as I came up with an answer I'd be thinking it was some other story. Even if I had to name 100 (out of some 1,300 here), I'd probably come up with others as soon as I'd provided that list. It wouldn't be quite as hard to name the 20 least liked, I'm sure.

This is a lesbian romance set chiefly in Manhattan. A bit of religion. A trip to a town up the road from where I'm typing this. And a shimmering blue Dior gown alone in a window on East 11th Street.

It began as a 280 character tweet on the prompt "vintage."

The Dress.

I agree. Out of hundreds of stories it isn't easy to single out one, but 20 I don't like would be easier.

Possibilities:

Brigit five-part series starting here:

And this one:

Hopefully I am getting better so let's say "my next" one.

Although some might say my LAST one. ;)

Hi, Evelyn,

My favorite of my stories on this site is my recent Valentine story:

The Valentine's Dance

It's a fictional story but it's special to me because it takes place during and after the American Civil War and was very loosely inspired by something that happened to several of my forebears and one in particular. I won't say more in case you decide to read it but it's briefly noted in the last line of author's note at the end if you're interested.

I hope that one of the two stories I am currently working on will ascend to favorite status, but for now it has to be Deep Undercover. This is a three-part non-con story. I write in the Non-con/Reluctance category, but my stories tend to be about transactions, rather than forced sex. This story involves a female cop tasked with infiltrating a drug kingpin's organization.

I like most of them, but my favourite is the romance Meg. Looking back, I would write it quite a bit differently, but it’s still my favourite.

because I managed to pull off some risky material which could have failed badly, but didn't. It's about a woman with a broken spine and the able-bodied man who falls in love with her (as did this writer). It was very well received by PWD, and for that I am humble.

is probably my most perfect shorter piece, written as a very quick side project. I didn't know what i had until my beta readers said, "Do you know what you've got here?"

Oh, jayzoz...

What a terrible question to ask, lol...

I have by far the most time and effort sunk into the Alexaverse as a whole, but it contains at least three series thus far that are all interconnected- Alex & Alexa, Mike & Karen, and Freja & Jeanie. There will be others attached soon.

If I'm only allowed to pick one of those, I'd say Mike & Karen.

As for my other series, I gotta admit, I LOVE writing my scifi comedy Time Rider, because I get to fuck with history. Mark, my protagonist, is a horny brat who just wants to get laid by famous women of times past. Becky, his high school Physics teacher and travel companion, is a lunatic who kicked Cardinal Richelieu in the nuts, and Nanu, their new friend from the Roman province of Egypt, doesn't understand Mark and Becky's social mores, and why she shouldn't be able to screw exactly whomever (and whatever) she wants.

She's also not entirely convinced Mark and Becky aren't secretly gods who are just trolling her for funsies.

I really love writing that series. It's just fun. Thanks to it, I've had a mariachi band and an enraged velociraptor in the same paragraph.

I love Sapphic Serenity, because I'm a straight man addicted to lesbians and excessive amounts of tribadism.

(Edit: there's no such thing as 'excessive' amounts of tribadism. Just saying).

So if I HAD to pick, as in I may only continue to write one series, I'd go with the Alexaverse. And if I needed to narrow that further (kill me now), I'd pick Mike & Karen.

That was really difficult, I think I hurt my own feelings. Lol.

Hopefully I am getting better so let's say "my next" one.

Although some might say my LAST one. ;)

I think I have to agree with Jamie here. My last story us usually my favorite, so instead I'm going name my second favorite which has been pretty consistent for awhile now. Time to Breathe is a Sci-Fi story about a man and a woman trapped in a space ship as their oxygen supply is running out. While most of my work is stroke fantasies, I do have a couple of "prestige pieces" and this is one of them. I like this one because of all the research I had to do to to make sure the science was accurate. I actually taught myself some rocket science. Well, rocket math anyway. All the hard work paid off and it was really well received, which was also nice.

Okay, I'll play.

To me, all my stories suck, but some suck less than others :D

I'd pick For Her Too because it's fun, hot and kinda-sorta-almost based on actual events.

And if I'm allow an alternate choice, Proper Charlotte because there's something about in a tightly-wound all-business women dropping her guard to reveal her passionate side, but only to you.

Since my stories are largely interconnected, I tend to think of them in chapter breakdown.

My second favorite is Investing Time Ch. 04. The protagonist, Brian, is in the middle of an erratic workday--in the prior chapters, he's won two huge business contracts, had an introspective appointment with his shrink, found out his co-worker was a teenage human trafficker, cut ties with a model he was breadcrumbing and interviewed a law student that wants to sleep with him. The last time he saw his daughter, he was brusque and dismissive; now, he's unsure of how to apologize to her. While figuring out what to say, he reminisces about how he first discovered that he had a child, and how he settled into being a dad.

The chapter's neither erotic nor romantic, and on the surface not much happens.... All ingredients for very low reads on Literotica, of course. But the chapter is about unconditional, agape and parental love: Brian's parents' simultaneous anger at his immaturity and irresponsibility, their exemplary love for him and immediate love for their grandchild, the wider network of people that love them and Brian's budding maturity as he steps up to accept the responsibilities of parenthood.

Like others above, my very favorite chapter is yet to be published: it's Spending Dollars Ch. 07 and is in my queue, but still has a handful of chapters preceding it. So I'm reserving the right to bump this thread when it finally goes live ;)

Easier when you've only posted a few stories!
I'm possibly proudest of Tell me what you want because refining it on and off for some years resulted in a nice-paced piece, and for my second story on here I was quite chuffed with it having a rating over 4.9 for about six months.

My favourite would have to be a sort of follow-up to it, which was my first long (7 pages) piece of BDSM porn, Switching at KinkCon. It was written to hit my buttons, if not many other people's.

While both stories are fictional, any resemblance to living persons may not be completely coincidental, though anything done by them in my stories should not be taken as meaning anyone possibly recognisable has done so. All acts in those two stories are ones I've witnessed or been involved in, if not actually on the same night.

It was near the end of page 6 of 7 in reality when it occured to me that the basic structure of 'she sees experienced top submitting for once, gets turned on', 'he has to confess he is feeling too submissive to top her as promised; she surprises him by being willing to top him instead', 'afterwards she goes to find someone else to top her; he realises he can find the energy after all', 'they live their separate lives happily ever after' would make for a good story. Well, a few people liked it. I tried to warn off those who definitely wouldn't, but there you go. I keep forgetting most people don't assume bisexuality as the default.

It is always my last one until I start my next one.

The down side of the 750 word event is that I have a folder full of partial stories that would never make the 750 word cutoff that I WILL finish. As well as a bunch of characters that I want to give a full and rich life to.

"The Temptation of Gheeran" still is my most favourite. It's a good glimpse into my mind without being autobiographic. It has some of my best character work and I fondly remember when one of my beta readers tore so hard into it that I redid more than half of the story, only to end up with what it is now. Talk about constructive criticism.

It's a tale about trying to fit in, about overcoming impossible odds and making impossible choices. There's sex in it somewhere. :)

The last of a trilogy "Rock star Futa: Cursed on a Cruise" is my favorite work.

I've learned more about writing over the last year, and this was my first big attempt to pull a lot of lessons together. It also help me get to know some characters I've written about on Lit better, which in turn is helping me expand that series.

Grand Island (linked on my sig-line). I don't think that's because it's also my biggest hit to date, but maybe that's got something to do with it. It's hard not to feel especially fond of a story that several readers have told me has moved them to tears, after all. :)

My favorite of my stories is Catharsis. It happens to be my currently highest rated. It's a nice medium length (5 Litpages).

But the reason I like it the most is because it wound up be more personal to me that I'd expected it to be. It's not for everyone, because it explores a loving S/m relationship, and specifically the use of pain in the regulation of emotion. There's (what I think) is some good sexy bits, but what I like better is the dynamic between the couple. A lot of the BDSM stories forget or neglect to demonstrate the care and concern between partners that's really a main point of the scene; it's a different way of showing care and respect that sometimes looks uncaring and disrespectful.

It's a theme I've tried to revisit in some of my other (as yet unpublished) stories, to various degrees, and with (frankly) varying degrees of success. And obviously the whole S/m dynamic is off putting to a lot of people. I got a few really positive comments (which is rare in the BDSM category). So it sort of ticks all the boxes for me.

That's a tough one, as it's a bit like asking to choose your favourite child. There are a couple of contenders, but, today at least, I think I'll plump for 'Behind the Black Door'...

https://www.literotica.com/beta/s/behind-the-black-door

It's not my highest-rated or most-read, but I think it's the best and most coherent story. I like to think it works as an actual tale, not just wank-fodder.

But it's pretty long, and very Anglo-centric, so I think a lot of people are put off by it.

As Dark, it's To Catch a Merchant Princess I love the characters, the story, and how well the world painted itself in that one. Probably my #1 overall.

As Les, I'd say Heart of the Wood Sweet story broadening the magic of my Wood universe where the world painted itself well. It also contains an important element of advance planning to explain something I'll eventually have to deal with in the series.

And as RR, it's a story that probably should have been assigned to Les, because it's entirely too substantive for an RR story LOL. Nude Holly Day The characters are just really positive, nice people rewarded for being so.

Of my older ones, written many years ago and moved here: Paying the Price

Of my current stories, this year's Valentine's Day entry: Cold Comfort

Taste is personal, though. The stories that I, personally, think deserve higher ratings don't always get them, while others that I wasn't entirely happy with seem to do well. De gustibus, I suppose. YMMV.

The easy answer for me would be "Dark Forces." It's primarily a sci-fi action adventure thriller, but there are (of course) naughty bits in it here and there. I had the basic idea for it kicking around for a few years before I wrote it, and it was loosely based on a series of dreams I had about the northern Nevada desert- none of which were connected, but all of which I wove into the story. I dunno, it was just a really fun story to write.
