My guess is it depends on his personality traits. I really think we would need more information about your husband and the partners in your bedroom.
Is your husband more introverted?
Has he had several sexual partners in the past as he might feel uneasy about being able to satisfy others.
Maybe he is more of a voyeur and enjoys watching.

Maybe take the initiative and "direct" what you want your husband and the female to do (keeping in mind, what you know they're into), telling them to 69 or whatever.

Same thing I guess, if he's into guys and you have a male partner.
