Welcome....

Soon I'll be posting the particulars of the thread to come but to give a quick overview:

After man years of service our good Lord Thom is given his own country as a reward.

Of course, there's trouble brewing up north as well, as well as the dreaded social event and the royal order to find a suitable wife....

Can our band of heroes make the transition from dirty deeds done cheap in the name of all that's good (includeing good looting) to settleing down to the quiet life farmer's complaints, taxes, leaking roofs and that pesky necromancer cult?

I'm looking for good story telling more than action, altho, there will be plots and subplots with action as well....

Sitting around the fire telling stories of past deeds, epic poems, and old myths you've just made up have a place here!

Tomorrow, cross my heart, I will be putting up the overview, but if you'd like to start fleshing out your PC now, that would be lovely.

I wanted to look into your information for this RP, but none of the pages were there.

Are the links purposely not working?

We're supposed to be all aging and old adventurers right? Just wanted to make sure.

How about, Carl Feathers.
56
Gray hair, blue eyes, full beard.
He used to be a royal guard, and was part of the King's army at one time. He was a great warrior in battle, fighting what he could and doing what he could in service to the king.
But, age and mortality caught up with him, and now he has retired to teaching the new recruits that want to be a part of the army, or royal service guardsman. People that he used to be.
He can still raise a sword, and fight, but his knee is bad, he needs to wrap it up in sauve every night after his work. Herbs and other such magic doesn't do much to help. He is just growing old. Not much magic can do against that.
He has some scars, all of them old, most of them come with a story or two, depends on how much he has had to drink.
He has a warm smile, and can still get the drop on half of those little squirts that he teaches.
How about that?

I am on board.....tell me about more about what your looking for...

Okay to be a knight? what about magic items and wealth?

I'm sorry the pages don't work, I'll try again....

Sounds good there, Mr. P, only question is: Why would he want to go to Tempgar if he already has a job?

By the way, in case Mr P thinks I over thunk things a bit ;) I did all the prep work one sleepless night, it's just getting to a place to put it all up that's been hard...sigh...

I need a reason? I thought I just needed a character. There's tons of reasons I can think of. You can come up with something if you want.
I thought this Lord Thom might be recruiting people to help his land... or, they could be long time friends. Or, Carl took this assignment himself, to prove to some of the younger whipper snappers he can still play ball with the rest of them.
You want me to pick something specific? lol, give me more details about Lord Thom and why everyone else is getting together, and I'll come up with something.

Hope this is good: (a break from my usual physically powerful characters (finally))

Balyp Castlethorp
78
Long gray hair, piercing gray eyes, clean-shaven
An old thief(and at times, assassin) Balyp has gone slightly senile. He enjoys practical jokes, and has been known to make the most innapropriate jokes at the most innaproptiate times(which explains the ten years he once spent in a prison after having nearly killed a local baron with one joke) He's still very, very good at what he does(which consists of sneaking, picking locks, and stabbing enemies in the back) Nevertheless, he is mostly a loner(not his choice, most people don't appreciate his brand of humor) In fact, he's made quite a few powerful enemies throughout his years, including dragons, a few kings, unnumbered shopkeepers, a few mages guilds, necromancers, and anything else that breathes. At times, his senility has even led him to believe he's someone else. He currently thinks he's a noble by the name of Lord Thom. Some believe that his senility is just a front, and that behind lies one of the most acute minds in the kingdom. He also suffers from a constant need to pilfer anything, anywhere. He'd steal a stick from a dragon, if that was the only thing to steal. This slight disorder has led to quite abit of trouble as well, and he's reputed to have a secret lair, where he keeps those things that he steals. It is rumored to be a most bizarre place, filled to the brim with some of the strangest, some of the most mundane, and some of the most worthless items ever. These two rumors have never been proven however, but the name Balyp still strikes terror into the heart of anyone with anything even moderately valuable on their person.

To be a tad more clear....

I'll be posting the opening thread tomorrow sometime, since it's my day off...am currently on my lunch hour.

Lord Thom is a younger son, a landless noble, who became Prince Balsom's whipping boy (when the prince was bad, Thom got the beating for it) and best friend. When Balsom's parents were killed by the Ur Thrall cult he became king at a very young age and everyone thought he'd be dead before he'd be old enough to grow a beard...

But through wit, guile, guts and good friends he turned his kingdom around and became the best king Thirce had had for over a hundred years...One of the reason was Thom, the King's Knight Errant and his band of adventurers.

Thirty years have passed and some of the faces in the King's Adventurers have changed...moved on or passed on or captured...and it is Queen Maga's desire that Thom be allowed to settle down and relax after a life time of putting out fires for king and country....so he's awarded the County Temgar...

In my first post Thom will learn that he is now Count Tempgar and offer to take his current group of comrades with him to the northcountry to settle down. Some will accept, some will refuse...

So, PC's can be:

*Member's of Thom's group
*People who are going with him (Which might be a good fit for Pooh's PC, he prob ran into Thom here and there, and is now going up to Tempgar with a group of recruits to take over the garrison there)
*Old member's who hear of Thom's good fortune and want to avail themselves to his hospitality (mooch;) )
*Old enemies
*Townspeople of Tempgar (like the local lawmen, etc)
*Merchants

But, please PM me if your PC is also a member of the Ur Thrall cult!

Hope this helps! See you tomorrow!

That sounds excellent. I shall be waiting the start of the thread.

This sounds promising, how about this for a character...

Cronoleth Zazulander, a lecherous Magist and devout worshiper and contemplative of the Unknown Creator he is still a philanderous chauvanist even at the age of 75 and though he often seems to be nearly senile he has a knack for knowing when he's being made fun of and always has a little (mostly) harmless spell to get even waiting to be cast, one of his lasting spells was cast on the thieving Balyp Castlethorp, causing anything that the thief borrowed from him to stick to his fingers until he returned it (it wore off long ago but it caused a few awkward moments in the past). Well traveled and posessing of great political and domestic acumen he would be an ideal advisor if he weren't blarmy. Still, his magical powers and time alongside Thom in his adventuring days. Like clockwork, he always seems to become completly lucid just in the nick of time. He has ten children of several different mothers (attractive apprenti who were annoyed with their slow progress in the College of Magic) and though grown up, he treasures them all. He serves as a diviner, advisor, and magist for a princely sum.

Hmm, so we got a bit going. I'll try for something different, and see how it comes out.

name: Ronic Trmble
Race: Elf
age: 153
Description: Green eyes, long silver hair, pale skin, worn clothing.

BIO: Ronic has supposedly been to the moon and back. That is pretty much why people don't listen to him any more. He is infact a jack of all trades, having needed a sword a few times, and not finding one, he knows that a table leg is a decent weapon. In the few cases there was a sword handy he chose not to show his "complete and total mastery" of one, but proved he knew where the handle was. He has also learned every single simple ever created, unfortunately he seems to only remember ten, although he has never proved he knows that many using only two or three.

Despite most peoples tendency to just walk by after the first story they here, Thom actually has listened to him on many an occasion, having often found useful information about what he needed at the time, and if Ronic had none, he was more then willing to come along and offer a helping hand.

Morgoth, that was just, just beautiful man. Really. *sniffs and wipes a tear from her eye* Kudos.

So, so far we have:

In Thom's party:

Going with Thom (offically):

Cronoleth Zazulander (was in Thom's party in the early days)
Carl Feathers (Master at Arms, heading up a group of new recurits)

Ne'er do well's ;) :

Ronic Trmble
Balyp Castlethorp

If this isn't right, let me know.

Needed: Some folks in Thom's current command.

lol. Thank you. I figured now was as good a time as any to finally change. I know some of you have been waiting for that for a while.

yes, well Ronic Trmble, well leap at the chance to mouch, if it is presented to him he may come. Otehr wise I'll have to find a difrent excuse.

Balyp would also be interested in working with Thom. While he is succesful, he is bored, and not quite happy, and is currently looking for something more challenging.

So, I came in yesterday and wrote this whole long post about meeting up with everyone and Thom's worries and the system crashed right when I hit submit!

I was hoping that it went through, but, alas, it didn't.

I can't write it again today, coz I've too much going on, unless I can manage to come back later tonight...

Sorry guys.

It might take me a while to post. Some how I am not getting on lit as much as I'd like. So many ways to spend time in a day, and two few hours of time in a day.

Hey, this sounds like a fun thread. Thought this would be an interesting character to have along.

Lyle Firebane

Age: 72

Human magist, under the unkown creator.

Lyle is a very volatile fire mage, who also knows a few other basic elemental spells as well, primarily water-based (his mother forced him to learn those when he decided to take up fire-magery, after he nearly burned down the family barn one day). Lyle used to be a very powerful mage, but his temper seems to often get the best of him. However, since his adventuring days, he has grown a bit senile, and often forgets which spell components to use, or the correct lines for some crucial spell, sometimes with drastic (yet always comical) results. His lifegoal seems to be combining the elements of fire and water into an ULTIMATE SPELL, which would devastate all foes, and secure his name in the annals of history as the greatest mage ever to walk the realm, complete with his very own lifetime membership to The Rusty Bucket Spa. Complete with long white beard, beady eyes, and red robes and cloak, with his pointy hat seeming to always droop nowadays, Lyle is the veritable epitome of old geezer-ish-ness.

Lyle is a loveable, though sometimes crabby, old man. And while most of his spells dont actually work, he is still to be noted for his determination and confidence in his own superiority. Also, Lyle has been called a bit of a pervert by some of the young ladies in his neighborhood, but Lyle would say that he is misunderstood, and really does want to show them a good time.

~Background~

Lyle was with Thom in his early, more adventursome days. With Lyle's help, Thom and his band of adventurer's did many a great deed. However, Lyle eventually settled in at the magist school to teach, as this seemed a bit less dangerous than scorching the everpresent baddy that sort of popped up around the realm. But, of course, he never seemed to grow tired of telling his tales of chivalry and danger to his students. However, when one well meaning student attempted to publish his stories, he smacked her with a copyright suit and the board convinced him that he needed a few decades worth of vacation to destress a bit. So, Lyle gave up teaching and settled down to his true love: experimenting. After many years (and many botched experiments) Lyle achieved true power! Well, at least that's how he put it. At 57, he devised a way to mix the different elements into more powerful spells. Sadly, when he tried to mix fire and water, all he got was frizzy hair, and an offer to open up his own spa. Declining, Lyle took this on as his life's quest, to mix these two elements into the ULTIMATE SPELL, guaranteed to vanquish all enemies at will. So, for the next fifteen years, he did nothing but attempt this unlikely mix. After enough failed attempts to cause even Honest Abe to give up, Lyle finally broke down. His physician suggested he begin seeing a shrink, who in turn told him that he just needed a vacation. Oddly enough (but really good for the point of this story) Lyle read in the newspaper the following morning about Lord Thom, his old comrade-in-arms settling down to the land of Tempgar. Thinking to himself how this would be a great chance to get out of the lab for a few days, and how a little sun never hurt anyone, Lyle packed up his belongings, sold his estate and headed off to join his old friend in this new adventure.
