Is there a way to get rid of this? I'm not allergic on my legs, upper lip, or armpits...but WHY an allergy in such a delicate area? I've gotten ingrown hairs, zit like bumps/boils , and other interesting uncomfortable fun trying to figure out the best way to not get irritation. I've had this allergy problem for almost ten years. (I'll be 23 in a couple of weeks)Nair smells weird, and the thought of a Brazilian makes me a bit ill. Any advice appreciated.

its not an allergy, its a skin irritation.

try shaving with whatever you use for soap 'down there'...assuming the soap doesn't make you break out when you don't shave there.

a good quality, SHARP razor is necessary. I use a Mach 3 on my bits n' pieces, no problems.

make 1 pass, the more tiems you go over the area, the more likely you get razor burn.

I shave every other day usually. and I have sensitive skin normally, and don't have razor bumps.

when i first started shaving, i ran into the same problem as you. not only did it affect my "delicate area" it affected my underarms as well.
so, i came up with a simple solution that works for me, i just shave with the growth of the hair not against the hair... been bump free every since.
hope that helps
:)

I always thought you shouldn't shave down there. That it was bad for you?

Try using other products besides soap and shaving cream. Here are a few things that I have tried and can recommend. Noxema: the menthol might tingle a bit. Shave Secret: an oil that smells like cloves. A little goes a long way. Conditioner: apply after showering and allow to soak in before shaving. Also great for shaving your legs. Body Lotion: use hypoallergenic brands if the fragranced ones bother your skin. I hope these suggestions might help.

I use the same conditioner I use for my hair. Currently, that's Vo5 strawberries and creme. I do one pass with the razor and I rinse really well with cool water, and dab with 1 percent hydrocortizone cream and I don't get so irritated.

Later the same day, I wash the bits and pieces, dry, dust with non talc powder, and give it a once over with a body bare electric shaver.

Important note: do not use hydrocortizone ointment, you need cream. Read the label and be sure you get actual hydrocortizone cream. If the active ingredient is "hydrocortizone acetate" it will burn, baby, BURN!
