Observations on a Beard

I've been shaving my head for the past year or so, but for the past month I've been experimenting with growing a beard. Since the beards gotten to beard length (instead of I forgot to shave length) I've noticed a number of odd things.

First of all, I'm getting carded much more frequently. Typically I've only been carded at places that card everyone, but now it is happening just about everywhere I go.

I've also noticed... well being noticed. I wonder how much of that is my attitude with the beard, as opposed to how I actually look with the beard. Although one of my co-workers was almost inappropriate when she talked about how much she liked my new beard, and that was before I realized I was getting noticed more.

Anyway, all this leads to my poll question: What do you think of facial hair?

Facial hair is hot. It's a sign of virility . . . according to old wives.

And you're probably getting noticed more because the combination of a shaved head with a face-full of hair is a startling look. It's by no means unpleasant, but it's certainly eye-catching. Just my opinion, though

It depends. I personally like clean-shaven or scruffy, but a full beard, moustache, goatee etc. can get in the way of kissing...

From what I've seen...it really depends on the face I guess. Some are better off without facial hair. When I had a moustache, many people thought I was a lot older, however after shaving it off, people were guessing closer, if not a little younger than my actual age. However then you get those people whose faces are well fit for facial hair...like Johnny Depp.

However, there's more than the visual to consider. How does it FEEL?

Have you tried putting conditioner on it? It works for pubes too.

clean shaven always, sorry beardy blokes, I just am not a fan. Everywhere else i love hair, I don't mind hair, but beards...nope, just don't do it for me.

LOL actually you should wash all body hair with shampoo and conditioner...I know I make it a point to everytime I'm in the shower

It depends on the face, and sometimes my moods.

Clean shaven or goatee for me. Full beads only if they're short and nicely trimmed. Guys with a lot of beard too often look like they don't want to bother with any sort of grooming (and it's sooo 1860's!).

As for which--clean shaven or goatee--depends on the gent and his chin there. But most guys with a bald head, IMHO, look best with a goatee. The Boota look Verrry hot!

The one thing I wont stand for: mustache For heaven's sake don't go for a mustache, because even if it looks alright on you when you're wearing clothes, when that woman of your dreams decides to take you to bed...she's going to have a dissociative moment. Check out some 70's porn and you'll see what I mean. There is something weird and really unsettling about a naked man with a mustache. It's just wrong.

Um...well, I only mentioned pubes or mentioned ONLY pubes because I don't really have other uh...body hair. I use moisturizer all over, which is just...TMI.

I've had mine longer than many members of the AH have been alive.

I have it professionally trimmed every six weeks.

I'm not sure that a beard goes with a shaved head. A naturally bald or balding head is OK but only if the beard is kept trimmed. I once wore my beard with a square topped crew-cut. We all make fashion mistakes.

Actually, I haven't decided yet. There are some aspects I like, and some I don't. For one thing it still hasn't really gotten comfortable. I'm actually amazed at how thick the hairs are, especially compared to the rest of my hair which is super fine. But I do think it makes me look more manly and potent. Of course, considering I'm 6'6" and substantial, I don't really need that much help.

I was thinking, I should get some jeans, put on my boots and Jack Daniel's T-shirt and see what kind of reaction I can get.

1. Conditioner does not work on my beard. And believe me, in an attempt to salvage it and my marriage I tried nearly all of them. Waste of money. Razor blades and a shaving mug are the only answer.

2. And just what is my motivation to shave my back if Jenny only likes girls, huh? I mean, it's back there and I'm up here. Besides, Hot Mama likes hair . . . when it's soft.
