OTOH, they can go to community college for free!
That's really not a bad idea. I did it that way and things worked out fine for me. Community college costs much less than a state university and there is nothing wrong with fulfilling some of the general educational requirements there. Things such as American History, English Composition, beginning science courses and the like can just as well be taken, with more convenience and less expense at a CC than at a U.
