'President Obama has passed the Big 4-0 -- going the wrong way.

Turns out voters were not simply satisfied to spank the Democrat and his party in the Nov. 2 midterm elections with historic losses in the House of Representatives.

Obama's job approval rating as calculated by the Zogby Poll has now sunk to 39%, a new low for his 22-month presidency that began with so much hope and excitement and poll numbers up around 70. As recently as Sept. 20, his job approval was 49%.

A whopping 60% now disapprove of his job, up from 51% disapproval Sept. 20.

Obama now trails in hypothetical 2012 matchups against Republicans Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and the next Bush, Jeb.

And, oh, my! Lookee here! Obama has even fallen into a statistical tie with none other than Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor. How embarrassing that is because other polls have shown a majority of Americans believe she is unqualified for the presidency. So it appears many have now decided, on second thought, Obama looks that way too.'

Who will be the first to say it's only a Zogby poll, so it doesn't matter?

It's only a Zogby poll.

The importance of specific number is undercut because of the way they do their sampling.

If we see that confirmed by another poll, it's much more relevant.

Comparing Zogby to Zogby the numbers are going down drastically. That seems relevant to me.

Obama may not want to risk that one if these 'irrelevant' polls keep trending down. I think it's getting more and more likely he won't be the Democratic nominee in 2012.

I wouldn't count those chickens just yet...

I seem to remember not to long ago that the Senate was only an O'Donnell away...

I'm not counting them yet, but there have to be some Democrats who are doing some serious calculating about now. :)

Yeah, and who do they have that won't piss off the minority voters if they stab their main man in the back?

We know that party rallies around losers no matter what.

Just look at how they reacted to the last poll that really mattered; it didn't matter!

If Hillary decides she's got to give it another try, that would be interesting.

She's been put in her place once.

They'll happily do it again. Incumbency has its perks...

I think next year the Republicans in the House will launch several investigations that will do damage to Obama, and I think more than a few Democrats will be secretly hoping he gets so badly damaged he will decide not to run again.

really?

you have NO IDEA what a RACIST is then.....

congrats, you have become THEM!

Let me guess, you have lots of black friends, and they love it when you call them colored, and they love it even more when you call them your n---a. Right?

According to Gallup, Obama's approval rating is 47 percent. His disapproval rating is 46%. Also, according to Gallup, when Reagan was in office this long his approval rating was 43 percent.

What may be different is the intensity of support. There always was about twenty percent of the voters who had this attitude about Reagan, "I do not care what anyone else says. I do not care what happens. He's my man." I do not detect this intensity among Obama supporters. Speaking for myself, I voted for him in 2008. I will vote for him in 2012. Nevertheless, I am disappointed in him. I think he should have worked to reduce unemployment before addressing health care.

Gallup's numbers for this poll are for all adults, and are notoriously unreliable for political purposes, especially as compared to a likely voter poll. All adult polls always favor Democrats. Registered voter polls are more reliable, and likely voter polls are most reliable.
