His problem with Jews was this: Jews are fools for communism, and Hitler hated communists. During the Weimar Republic Jews used their gold and diamonds to buy bankrupt companies and academic-government jobs. They helped Jews but not Germans thru the tough times. So Hitler promised to change all that and was elected Chancellor. Oddly enough he had a Jew in his government, and a few Jews he personally knew and esteemed had total immunity during the 3rd Reich.

I know this is wading into a shitstorm of epic proportions (seriously, this is a completely retarded discussion) but I just had to say that defending the articles of confederation is probably the stupidest trick (or one of them) the tea party morons are attempting to pull these days.

We tried it and it didn't work. Read your history books. It'd be really hard to fight wars for oil without the power to tax. Although I suppose defaulting on our debts and downgrading our credit rating would be a productive first step towards abolishing the federal government and returning to those articles. So maybe it all makes sense.

Totalitarianism has never risen in a country with a well functioning economy and a popular government. The government does not have to be democratic, but it has to be popular. Of course, democracy helps.

The enemies of social democracy cannot pin anything on it. It works fine. To condemn it they have to lie, resort to obvious logical fallacies, or pretend that it does not exist, and that the only alternative to the American free enterprise system is what existed in the Soviet Union, or what exists in Cuba.

The standard of living in Cuba compares well with the standard of living in other Latin American countries. The economy of the Soviet Union performed well when we consider that it had to recover from two German invasions and a civil war.

Where did you get the idea that the Tea Party as a whole supports returning to the Articles of Confederation? That was just a stupid statement by Robert Ringer in an even dumber article.

Nor should the parade chant of "No more taxes" be taken to mean that the protestor denies the government's general authority to tax. It may simply mean that he or she doesn't want any MORE taxes now or until some arbitrary point in the future.
