Father-of-three charged for offering teenage girls a lift during snowstorm

A married father of three has been charged for offering two 13-year-old girls a lift during a snowstorm.
Rodney Peterson is facing a $750 fine if convicted of disorderly conduct after the girls reported him to the police.
Investigators said Peterson, who is expecting his fourth child with his wife of 12 years, had 'alarmed and disturbed' the girls.

However, Peterson told CBS 2, he was just trying to help the girls, saying: 'This is a good deed gone wrong.'
During a snowstorm in Barrington, Illinois on March 2 Peterson said he saw two teen girls leave a Shell station while he was pumping gas.

'I just noticed these girls, that they had no umbrella, no coats or hood or something of that nature and I just felt like I should help,' he told CBS 2.
As he left the station he said he saw the pair a distance away near Waverly.
'I just pulled up and said "How far do you have to walk?", and one of the girls just replied, "we’re OK" and waved me on.'

Barrington Police chose to press charges because the girls were 'alarmed and distressed' by the encounter
Peterson said he drove off and thought nothing of it until Barrington police came knocking at his door three days later,
According to the CNS 2 report, he listened in disbelief as police told him the girls reported the encounter and he was being charged.
Despite the charge, the Petersons, a devout Christian family, said they do not blame the girls, their families or police.
'The question comes into why I was charged,' Peterson said.
Barrington police said Peterson, who is due in court on Monday, should have called the police if he was concerned about the girls
