I support abortion because it's the law. I'm 100% on that and have been very up front with it on this board. However, that doesn't mean I have to delude myself into believing what it's not.

I also find it difficult to understand how "family planning" fails to include birth control and instead relies on abortion as a means of controlling reproduction after the fact. That's not planning, it's damage control.

Have sex all you want, I'm all for that. Being STUPID while doing it shouldn't earn you a free pass for it. Getting an abortion is legal but being legal doesn't mean being free from the consequences.

This changes nothing. Terminating a pregnancy is terminating a pregnancy regardless of how far along it is.

The only difference is the shock value/horror of doing so late in the pregnancy. Were it otherwise, then terminating a pregnancy at/before 6 weeks/fetal heartbeat wouldn't be any kind of issue at all.

And of course there's the hostage value issue used by both sides in the game of hateful social program politics.

Hey, I am all for birth control in many different forms, but thats not always possible ya know (see: RAPE), nor is it always 100% effective. Yes, two people having sonsensual sex together SHOULD not be dumbasses if they are...18 or 29 or whatever age if they arent ready to have a child, but obviously it happens. And as said, shit does happen with condoms, the pill, whatever. As such, it shouldnt be a PRACTICE to say "oh well, fuck it, off to the doc for a quickie abortion" but it should be an OPTION.

As for different opinion...in the cas eof being able to control my own body, yeah, I freely admit I look down on people who dont share my opinion.
I am happy to have a healthy debate about...immigration. gun control. taxes. education. universal healthcare...and so on. but being able to perform a function for my own health (in some cases...we have all read/heard the stories of women who cant get one in certain states with some serious ramifications...or maybe Faux News doesnt show those?). So yeah...sorry, pro-choice is the only viable and safe option because people arent going to abstain. Thats not realistic. And condoms etc arent foolproof.

Having abortion available as a backup plan shouldn't be the MAIN method of birth control used by so many. That's called being an absolute dipshit because having an abortion carries risk, including permanent sterility up to the death of the mother.

You want abortion to be a freebie handout instead of following the law. Worse, you create unrealistic scenarios in your head as if they're facts and use those fantasies as your argument.

FACT: Abortion is LEGAL in all 50 States. It's limited/restricted in a few but it's legal. If you live in a State where abortion is limited you have 3 choices; abstain from sex, use birth control (which can be had FOR FUCKING FREE almost everywhere) before having sex, or go to where you can get an abortion without having to deal with your State's limitations/restrictions on it.

Any other argument is ridiculous because it's based on FANTASY, not fact.

To respond to this part

1. Abstention. Good idea in theory, but not practical. Never works for teens who are generally horny AF. And with the religious right saying masturbation is "not approved by God"...and you cant have sex...they expect them to...??? Regardless, abstention doesnt work.

2. Free condoms. Yes thankfully. Alas, they dont always work. Alas, some boys will try to slip them off just before penetration or during. And yeah sorry, rapists dont regularly wear them. So...it helps of course. But again, not fool proof.

3. Go to where you can get an abortion. Again, good idea in theory. Not everyone that has sex/becomes pregnant has the ability to travel to another state by car or bus or train. Whether they dont have the money to do so, or own a car, or have the time, or even a drivers license, speak the language, lots of potential barriers.

4. Medical emergencies. You didnt address that but...it does happen and has. Women who actually may want to keep the pregnancy but something goes "wrong" and they have to terminate the pregnancy are not always able to do so because of point #3. Some of these women have died. Some have been permanently made barren or had other issues.

Whats the fix to all this?

1. That's specific instance is false/fake news/spin. She died from other reasons, not for being refused an abortion. Do your own research before posting a quicky google hit so that you actually know what you're talking about instead of looking like a lunatic flailing for anything to support your argument.

2. Life sucks and people sometimes die. That's being realistic. Trying to tie abortion as a means to prevent that from happening is nothing more than gaslighting because even with abortion, women die from being pregnant. That's how life works. It sucks but that's reality.

3. I still don't get how you think I'm anti-abortion. Arguing with me about it is dumb because I'm on your side. What I'm against is using FAKE NEWS and LIES as justification to rant on about it. Abortion is legal. It's sometimes necessary. It shouldn't be the #1 means of birth control. You want to fix the "unwanted pregnancy" problem there are other, SAFER, ways to do it. Screaming that those other methods don't always work is why abortion exists and why it's legal.
