Nursing parents...

One of my favorite light-hearted fantasies, which I think could make a fun story, is a new mom with lots of milk, but for some reason her baby can't nurse (whatever handwaved reason there might be). The upshot is that she ends up nursing her own parents in a playful scene, I picture her parents stretched out on either side of her, each one eagerly nursing from one of their daughter's milk-filled breasts...

I once talked to a woman who said, her boobs produced more milk then her baby could drink, so she had to pump it out. Her husband tried the milk and even put it in the coffee, but he didn't like it, because it was too sweet for his taste.

I don't know that much about nursing, so I have to ask: can it cause problems, if your boobs produce milk and you can't get it out ? Maybe the baby doesn't want to drink anymore so the mother has to use a breast pump to get the rest of the milk out of her boobs. But the pump is broken and it's Sunday morning, so she can't get a new one until Monday. Or she visits her parents and forgot the pump at home. Her Mom tells her to squeeze the boobs to get the milk out but that doesn't work (or maybe they do it wrong). So Mom tells her daughter: we need to suck the milk out. The only possible way would be, if you would nurse someone besides the baby. But there is no one near, besides me and your father ....

The story idea doesn't really do anything for me (to each his own), but I thought I'd try to answer your questions. We had our first child a year ago so I'm up on this stuff.

As I said, the idea of drinking breast milk doesn't intrigue me in the least, but I have unintentionally tasted it. When my wife was nursing, unless I completely stayed away from her breasts during sex (which I wasn't about to do for nine-ten months), milk ended up getting expressed. It happens pretty easily and sometimes doesn't even take direct touch. She could just have the thought of breast feeding cross her mind and they'd start dripping. Anyway...it is pretty sweet to the taste.

If more milk is being produced than the baby can drink it does cause discomfort if not outright pain for the mother. However, this is only for a short period (at least in our case). A woman's body, over time, self regulates. So the needs of the baby are eventually taken into account by the mother's breasts and supply and demand equalize as best they can.

The supply and demand being unequal happened quite frequently as our baby aged. By 10 months they baby wasn't really interested in breast feeding so my wife did have to pump to release some of the pressure. But gradually the issue went away because her body realized that the baby didn't need it. It's pretty amazing how our bodies work, or at least their bodies.

It's pretty unrealistic that a woman would not be able to get her unused supply out through either a pump or using her fingers. Having her mother resort to suckling is pretty unrealistic, but it's Lit. If spontaneous lesbian sex can break out between stewardesses on an airplane, why can't this happen too?
