Let's say... a family living in a farm or huge house takes in a young woman war refugee. Could be indeed random person just because someone got passionate about the conflict and contacted a charity offering a temporary housing, but perhaps more interesting someone who's somehow linked in fifth order or so. Could be really distant family, or friend of a friend, or family member of a friend's business partner, or whatever.
So she's foriegn, and possibly traumatized and it's all quite unexpected, and nobody takes it too harsh she's acting little weird...
Well, then there's perhaps a random potentially embarrassing moment she's reacting not as expected by others to. As simple as getting walked on or walking in herself on someone in the bathroom, or caught in less than respectable attire where she shouldn't or something such.
In short, at some point she claims she's a nudist.
Others find it believable, and decide to accept it, and perhaps even encourage her to "feel comfortable" as if it wasn't a big deal. Well, of course it may not be, but perhaps is for at least someone of the hosts, and/or someone may even decide to go further and embrace it themselves.
The twist? She's pretending. She invented it just to deal with that particular situation or its aftermath and/or lack of luggage or even some other potential perceived embarrassment. So it's actually a rather big deal for her but she's stuck with the claim and persists.
Of course I'm thinking of that famous nude beach right in the center of Kyiv, not to mention Crimea, so there's a possibility as it is, but doesn't need to be if that's too real.
