Nude Olympic

Just watching the Olympics and I wondered if anyone would love to see the games with totally nude athletes competing?
I believe the original Olympics were done in the nude.

However, I think Winter Olympics in the nude would be tough on the participant.

I don’t think I want to see Men’s Ski Jump with naked dudes junk dangling in the wind during the jump.

But summer Olympics, like the diving and swimming, track and field, that might be arousing to watch

Dangling junk wouldn't be very aerodynamic, however, I started thinking about the luge and the skull (or whatever that damn thing is called). The thought of sailing down a solid ice track, buck nekkid, in excess of 75 mph has frost bite on sensitive parts of the body written all over it.

Ancient Greek legend has it that in 720 BC, an Olympic athlete named Orsippus of Megara was competing in the 185m run when his loincloth slipped off. Rather than stop to hide his shame, Orsippus sprinted on and won the race. His triumphant example stuck. Nude athletic competition – often emphasised through the liberal anointment of olive oil – became all the rage in Greece, seen as the ultimate tribute to Zeus.

Nakedness in the Olympic Games had a different meaning back then. Today, it would become very inherently sexualised and very pornographic, and that would become very predatory, in turn.

If nudity were made a permanent staple of the Olympics, society could, over time, revert to the Greek tradition of viewing athletic nudity through a lens of heroism and celebration. But that certainly would not happen overnight.

For many athletes, the emotional energy required to tune out the cultural baggage and societal judgment surrounding nudity would probably take a toll on performance. Under these constraints, the winners of the first nude summer Olympics could not be those with the greatest athletic prowess, but those with the strongest ability to channel the ancient Greek mindset.

As a nudist, I have attended many swimming meets where everyone swam in the nude. To have swum otherwise would have led to the person involved being asked to leave. Male and female, young and old - all enjoying the experience of nude swimming.

In Europe, many public pools offer opportunities for nude swimming at certain opening hours. Many large pools at wellness centres simply require nudity and may only allow bathing suits for some hours.

Obviously, nearly all nudist societies and resorts have pools that ban swimsuits. In Germany, my wife and I encountered a public pool only allowing nude swimming (Luftbad Dölzschen in Dresden). It was a wonderful experience.

All these opportunities for nude swimming obviously are mixed gender, like nude beaches; it would be ridiculous to segregate people, including couples who just want to have a swim. Hopefully, nude swimming will become even more common if society becomes less dominated by inhibited and intimidating people.

While I was at boarding school (1974 - 1981), we had a strict no-clothing rule and always swam nude. Once a year, the local schools would hold a swimming competition. Boys from the other schools raced in school-coloured swim briefs, while our boys still raced nude. Although it was only boys, the audience comprised mainly the parents and possibly brothers and sisters, but no one was upset or complained.

Before each race, the visiting boys would warm up. It was interesting to note how many took their swim briefs off!

Nude curling, the poor dudes with dangling nutsacks sliding on the ice as they throw the stone.
