Now Trump wants to destroy public broadcasting

Trump's FCC chief opens investigation into NPR and PBS

President Trump's new head of the Federal Communications Commission has ordered an investigation of NPR and PBS, with an eye toward unraveling federal funding for all public broadcasting.

"I am concerned that NPR and PBS broadcasts could be violating federal law by airing commercials," Chairman Brendan Carr wrote on Wednesday to the presidents and chief executives of NPR and PBS, Katherine Maher and Paula A. Kerger, respectively. "In particular, it is possible that NPR and PBS member stations are broadcasting underwriting announcements that cross the line into prohibited commercial advertisements."

The FCC does not directly regulate the two networks. Instead, it evaluates the actions of roughly 1,500 public broadcasting stations across the country, which hold licenses granted by the FCC for use of public airwaves for radio and television, even in the digital age.

Public broadcasting stations are prohibited from running commercials. Instead they present what are considered corporate underwriting spots, which are supposed to stop shy of a "call to action" telling listeners and viewers to buy a product or service.
Long past due.

Now cutting off all funding to PBS and NPR.

"Which viewpoints NPR and PBS promote does not matter," the executive order says. "What does matter is that neither entity presents a fair, accurate or unbiased portrayal of current events to tax-paying citizens."
Which is a lie. You can get a more accurate and unbiased portrayal of current events on NPR than on any commercial network!

Who owns the licensing of PBS? Someone has to be getting the money from Sesame Street merch.

False. NPR leans left.
I've been listening to All Things Considered regularly for more than 20 years and I've been a leftist almost as long. I know NPR ain't leftist. Pacifica Network News is leftist (more or less). Democracy Now! is leftist (kindasorta). NPR is not. NPR is the most politically neutral news source on the airwaves or the Intertubes.

Keep listening. Keep enjoying it. Just leave taxpayers out of it.

I believe new episodes of Sesame Street are currently produced by and airing on Max first, with the agreement to air on PBS later. They didn’t renew the deal though, so not sure what’s in store for Sesame Street in 2026.

He’s a fucking moron who has deluded himself into thinking he’s smart, and his fragile little ego can’t handle people who are smart enough to see through his lies, hence gutting education and public broadcasting. Sesame Street has also been parodying him since the 80s with the trashy (R/D)onald Grump character, later voiced by Joe Pesci.

This was from when he threatened them back in 2016 or 2017ish:

Go be fuck head someplace else.

Any event, NPR and PBS are funded from other private sources the vast bulk of which Trump has no control over.

But that's what the Politics Board is all about. This IS someplace else. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

No, dipstick, he is simply no longer funding them because all the money is used for is lining pockets and spewing biased political lies.

Maybe you should donate some money to keep them going.
